Modelling vitamin D food fortification among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Background: Low vitamin D intake and high prevalence of vitamin D deficiency (serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentration < 50 nmol/L) among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples highlight a need for public health strategies to improve vitamin D status.

Synthesizing Correlations with Computational Likelihood Approach: Vitamin C Data [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
It is known that the primary source of dietary vitamin C is fruit and vegetables and the plasma level of vitamin C has been considered a good surrogate biomarker of vitamin C intake by fruit and vegetable consumption. To combine the information about association between vitamin C intake and the plasma level of vitamin C, numerical approximation methods

High prevalence of vitamin D insufficiency and its association with BMI-for-age among primary school children in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background Deficiencies of micronutrients can affect the growth and development of children. There is increasing evidence of vitamin D deficiency world-wide resulting in nutritional rickets in children and osteoporosis in adulthood.

Microporous Polymer Membranes: Molecular Stents Enhanced Solvent‐Accessibility for Organic Solvent Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel microporous polyimide (PI‐TB‐NDI) is designed for enhanced organic solvent nanofiltration. By incorporating o‐methyl groups into the Tröger's base (TB) unit to create molecular stents, the polymer's intrinsic free volume is effectively increased without the need for post‐treatment.

Quantifying vitamin D intake among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Background/Objective: Vitamin D deficiency (serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] concentration <50 nmol/L) is prevalent among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia. Alternative to sun exposure (the primary source of vitamin D), vitamin D can also be obtained from food (e.g., fish, eggs, and meat) and supplements.

Asymptotic theory for longitudinal data with missing responses adjusted by inverse probability weights [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
In this article, we propose a new method for analyzing longitudinal data which contain responses that are missing at random. This method consists in solving the generalized estimating equation (GEE) of Liang and Zeger (1986) in which the incomplete responses are replaced by values adjusted using the inverse probability weights proposed in Yi, Ma and ...

Ruthenium Single‐Atom Nanozyme Driven Sonosensitizer with Oxygen Vacancies Enhances Electron–Hole Separation Efficacy and Remodels Tumor Microenvironment for Sonodynamic‐Amplified Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An atomic‐level engineered ruthenium single‐atom nanozyme is fabricated that features sufficient oxygen vacancies and electron and hole separation efficiency, which enhances response to the sono‐suppressive tumor microenvironment and induces tumor ferroptosis.

Vitamin B12 deficiency in the brain leads to DNA hypomethylation in the TCblR/CD320 knockout mouse

open access: yesNutrition & Metabolism, 2012
Background DNA methylation is an epigenetic phenomenon that can modulate gene function by up or downregulation of gene expression. Vitamin B12 and folate pathways are involved in the production of S-Adenosylmethionine, the universal methyl donor ...
