Non-nutritional uses of vitamin B6 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Vitamin B-6 is a water-soluble vitamin, and is readily metabolized and excreted, so it has generally been assumed to have negligible toxicity, although at very high levels of intake it can cause peripheral nerve damage.

Correlation of multiple sclerosis incidence in the UK 1990-2010 with geomagnetic disturbances [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
Recently, Mackenzie et al. reported incidence and prevalence of multiple sclerosis (MS) in the UK from 1990-2010. Authors of this report indicated that they could not explain the cause of decreasing MS incidence trend in the UK during this time period.

Model‐Guided Rational Construction of Escherichia coli Synthetic Consortia for Enhanced 2‐Methylbutyric Acid Production

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We developed a citramalate‐derived pathway for 2‐methylbutyric acid production in E. coli mono‐culture and consortia. The optimized consortium, using 2‐keto‐3‐methylvalerate as a node, achieved 1817.03 ± 103.73 mg L−1 2‐methylbutyric acid, a 28‐fold increase from the initial strain, with a yield of 0.091 g/g glucose.

Modelling vitamin D food fortification among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Background: Low vitamin D intake and high prevalence of vitamin D deficiency (serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentration < 50 nmol/L) among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples highlight a need for public health strategies to improve vitamin D status.

Asymptotic theory for longitudinal data with missing responses adjusted by inverse probability weights [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
In this article, we propose a new method for analyzing longitudinal data which contain responses that are missing at random. This method consists in solving the generalized estimating equation (GEE) of Liang and Zeger (1986) in which the incomplete responses are replaced by values adjusted using the inverse probability weights proposed in Yi, Ma and ...
