Grapevine virus L: a novel vitivirus in grapevine [PDF]

open access: bronzeEuropean Journal of Plant Pathology, 2019
Abstract Vitivirus are ssRNA(+) viruses in the family Betaflexiviridae (subfamily Trivirinae ). There are currently ten ICTV recognized virus species in the genus; nevertheless, the extended use of NGS technologies is rapidly ...

Incidence and Genetic Diversity of Grapevine Virus G in Croatian Vineyards [PDF]

open access: yesPlants, 2022
Grapevine virus G (GVG) is a recently discovered vitivirus infecting grapevines. Historically, viruses in the genus Vitivirus have been associated with the grapevine rugose wood disease.

Development of a universal RT-PCR assay for grapevine vitiviruses. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
The genus Vitivirus in the family Betaflexiviridae includes eleven viruses known to infect grapevine: grapevine vitiviruses A, B, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, L and M (GVA-GVM).

Phylogenetic Marker Selection and Protein Sequence Analysis of the ORF5 Gene Product of Grapevine Virus A [PDF]

open access: yesPlants, 2022
Grapevine virus A (GVA), the type species of the Vitivirus genus, is one of the causal agents of the Kober stem grooving disease of the rugose wood complex and one of the most frequently detected viruses in grapevine.

An Innovative Binding-Protein-Based dsRNA Extraction Method: Comparison of Cost-Effectiveness of Virus Detection Methods Using High-Throughput Sequencing. [PDF]

open access: yesMol Ecol Resour
ABSTRACT Viral diseases represent a threat to global food production. Managing the impact of viruses on crop production requires the ability to monitor viruses, study their ecology and anticipate outbreaks. Double‐stranded RNA (dsRNA) sequencing is a well‐established and reliable method of detecting viruses and studying virome‐host interactions and ...

Grapevine virome and production of healthy plants by somatic embryogenesis. [PDF]

open access: yesMicrob Biotechnol, 2022
The production of virus‐free plants is becoming increasingly crucial for the use of grapevine as a model species in different studies. The different spread among grapevine tissues suggested a clear distinction between viruses/viroids and mycoviruses that can successfully be exploited for their identification.

Grapevine virus P: a novel vitivirus found through virome analysis of bulk grape genetic resources in Japan [PDF]

open access: green, 2023
Abstract To understand the potential risks posed by viruses and viroids to viticulture in Japan, virome analysis was performed on 174 grape genetic resources from the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization. A total of 20 bulk samples were prepared by grouping the vines into batches of 6–10.

Complete Genome Sequence of a Novel Vitivirus Isolated from Grapevine [PDF]

open access: bronzeJournal of Virology, 2012
ABSTRACT A novel virus-like sequence from grapevine was identified by Illumina sequencing. The complete genome is 7,551 nucleotides in length, with polyadenylation at the 3′ end. Translation of the sequence revealed five open reading frames (ORFs). The genomic organization was most similar to those of vitiviruses.

High throughput sequencing for the detection and characterization of new virus found in arracacha (Arracacia xanthorrhiza)

open access: yesScientia Agropecuaria, 2021
Arracacha is a root crop cultivated in several countries of South America. The commercial product, which is the storage root, has multiple nutritional properties: its fine starch makes it easily digestible, and it contains high levels of calcium and ...
