Engineering Peripheral Metal‐Oxide Catalysis: Interparticle Spacing in Cu/ZrO2 Catalysts for Methanol Synthesis by CO2 Hydrogenation

The catalytically active periphery around oxide‐supported metal nanoparticles is key in reactions featuring marked metal‐oxide promotional effects. For Cu/ZrO2 CO2 hydrogenation catalysts, a Cu interparticle spacing of ∼15 nm optimizes methanol production rate and selectivity.
