Numerical Simulation of Bubble Coalescence Based on VOF Method

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011
This paper takes bubbles of bubble shell as research object, mainly studies two bubbles arranged in a vertical position. Applying VOF (volume of fluid) method to simulate interaction between two bubbles, analyses the effect of center distances and diameters on deformation and coalescence of bubbles.

On Two-Dimensional Water-Solid Impact With VOF Methods

Fluids Engineering, 1995
Abstract Procedures are presented that allow an accurate treatment with the Volume of Fluid (VOF) method of the impact between an incompressible fluid and solid boundaries. The identification and correct handling of impact are made possible by the use of appropriate procedures for the treatment of fluid and obstacle cells along the solid

Numerical analysis of bubble motion with the VOF method

Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1993
Abstract Numerical analyses of a two-dimensional single bubble in a stagnant liquid and in a linear shear flow were conducted in the present study using the volume of fluid method, which is based on the local-instantaneous field equations. It was clarified that this method gives qualitatively appropriate predictions for the effects of the Morton ...

Estimation curvature in PLIC-VOF method for interface advection

Heat and Mass Transfer, 2019
Heat and mass transfers’ equations of hydrocarbon liquid droplet are solved numerically by using a semi-implicit method based on the finite volume scheme (VOF). The Piece-wise Linear Interface Calculation (PLIC) is used in our modeling. A curvature estimation technique based on PLIC-VOF method is developed.

Numerical Simulation of Extreme Wave Generation Using VOF Method

Journal of Hydrodynamics, 2010
Numerical simulations of extreme wave generation are carried out by using the Volume Of Fluid (VOF) method. Extreme waves are generated based on wave focusing in a 2-D numerical model. To validate the capability of the VOF-based model described in this article, the propagation of regular waves is computed and compared with the theoretical results.

VOF Method for Fluids and Solids on Octree Structure

2009 Second International Conference in Visualisation, 2009
Fluid simulation, proposed here, runs on an unrestricted octree data structure which uses mesh refinement techniques to enable higher level of detail and solves Navier Stokes equations for multiple fluids. We also show our solution for floating objects and unmoving obstacles by setting up the boundry conditions and solving the velocity of objects using

Numerical Simulation of Droplet Ejection Based on VOF Method

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
Taking ejection process of the ink droplets from ink-jet nozzle as the prototype, a similar numerical model of droplet ejection was established. The VOF method was applied to track the interface of droplet ejection process and it is shown that the numerical results simulated by the VOF method were accurate and reliable.

A note on using VOF method for polymer bead manufacturing

International Journal of Plastics Technology, 2018
The production of mono-dispersed spherical and non-spherical polymer beads and capsules using micro-fluidics requires precise control of dispersed phase which are distributed in a continuous phase. The prediction of two phase or three phase flow patterns in the mini/micro channels finds its application in production process of such spherical polymers ...
