Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Polycarboxylate superplasticizer (PCE) is a key ingredient in the preparation of ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC). However, it is still unclear how PCE affects hydration and microstructure evolution of UHPC, and how it changes the rheological ...

All-aromatic biphenylene end-capped polyquinoline and polyimide matrix resins [PDF]
Biphenylene end-capped polyquinoline and polyimide resins afford low void content graphite-reinforced composites with good initial properties. However, with both resins, rapid degradation occurs during oxidative isothermal aging at elevated temperatures.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Drainage Performance of Long Longitudinal Slope and High Safety Permeable Asphalt Pavement
Permeable asphalt pavement refers to an asphalt mixture layer with an air void content of more than 18% and internal water permeability and drainage capabilities that can quickly drain away water on the road surface, improve rainy day travel safety, and ...

Effect of sand gradation and fines type on the liquefaction behaviour of sand-fines mixtures [PDF]
Equivalent granular void ratio and equivalent granular steady state line was used as the common basis for synthesizing test results. In isolating the influence of host sand, two sand-fines mixes with different host sand, but the same fines type and ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Laser-induced microexplosion confined in a bulk of silica: formation of nanovoids [PDF]
We report on the nanovoid formation inside synthetic silica, viosil, by single femtosecond pulses of 30–100nJ energy, 800nm wavelength, and 180fs duration.

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

High Temperature VARTM of Phenylethynyl Terminated Imides [PDF]
LaRC phenylethynyl terminated imide (PETI) resins were processed into composites using high temperature vacuum assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM). Although initial runs yielded composites with high void content, process modifications reduced voids ...
