Void content of PP/CF Wet-laid Nonwoven Composites: Effect of Fiber Content and Molding Conditions, and Void Elimination Mechanism

open access: yes, 2023
AbstractVarious wet-laid nonwoven composites have been well-developed in recent decades. However, studies that systematically investigate the factors affecting the void content of wet-laid nonwoven composites are still missing. This paper aims to study the factors affecting the void content of wet-laid nonwoven composites and propose a mechanism for ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

A study of packing parameters that influence the fresh properties of self-compacting concrete

open access: yesCerâmica
Some known self-compacting concrete (SCC) mix-designs are based on the lowest void content as a purpose of an ideal packing. However, a composition with a lower void content is not a guarantee of good synergy between the largest and smallest grain in the

Influence of particle shape and size on the threshold fines content and the limit index void ratios of sands containing non-plastic fines

open access: yes, 2020
Although several empirical and analytical models are available to predict the threshold fines content (fthr) for sand-silt mixtures, none of them considers the combined effects of particle shape and size.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Awaking the vacuum in relativistic stars

open access: yes, 2010
Void of any inherent structure in classical physics, the vacuum has revealed to be incredibly crowded with all sorts of processes in relativistic quantum physics.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Interpreting the Mechanical Behaviour of Carbonate Sand-Fine Mixtures Using the Modified Interfine Void Ratio

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Understanding the mechanical behaviour of carbonate sand-fine mixtures is crucial for modelling geotechnical-related gas exploitation problems in potential gas hydrate reservoirs. This paper presents a laboratory investigation of the mechanical behaviour

The effects of pumping on the air content and void structure of air-entrained, wet mix fibre reinforced shotcrete

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2019
The air content and void structure of hardened shotcrete is essential for its durability and resistance against freeze thaw damage. However, producing a mix which is pumpable, shootable, and also meets durability requirements is not always easy.
