Patient injury claims involving fractures of the distal radius : 208 compensated claims from the Finnish Patient Insurance Center [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background and purpose Optimal treatment for distal radius fractures remains controversial, with a significant number of fractures resulting in complications and long-term morbidity.

Absence of flexor carpi radialis identified during volar approach for fixation of distal radius fracture: a case report

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2018
Background Volar locking plate fixation of distal radius fractures is commonly performed because of its good clinical outcomes. The flexor carpi radialis (FCR) approach is one of the most popular approaches to dissecting the volar side of the distal ...

New Technique for Dorsal Fragment Reduction in Distal Radius Fractures by Using Volar Bone Fenestration

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Case Reports, 2013
Introduction: For intra-articular distal radius fractures (AO Classification, type B2) with a displaced dorsal fragment, there remains much discussion on the fixation method for the dorsal fragment. To reduce the displaced dorsal fragment, we developed a

Functional and radiological comparison of volar locking plate and K-wire augmented volar locking plate fixation in intra-articular and comminuted distal radius fractures

open access: yesActa Medica Alanya
Aim: This study aims to determine whether additional K-wires to volar plating impact the radiologic and functional outcomes of comminuted distal radius fractures (DRFs).Methods: Forty-two patients treated with either a volar locking plate or a K-wire ...

Treatment of Distal Radius Fractures in Elderly Patients: A Review [PDF]

open access: yesTravmatologiâ i Ortopediâ Rossii
Background. Distal radius fractures (DRF) are one of the most common injuries in the elderly population. Their incidence increases steadily, with epidemiologists predicting further growth.

Open reduction and internal fixation of volar Barton’s fractures by polyaxial locking plates: a retrospective study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background: A Barton’s fracture is a compression injury with a marginal shearing fracture of the distal radius. Conservative management of these fractures are highly unsuccessful with multiple complications.

Treatment of Distal Radius Fractures with Volar Locking Plate

open access: yesOrthopedics & Traumatology, 2009

Becoming confident about confidence intervals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A clear understanding of variability is at the heart of many of the articles published by the Bone and Joint Journal. The terms variability, dispersion, spread, distribution and variance amongst many others are used to simply refer to the range of values

Noncomminuted lateral end clavicle fractures associated with coracoclavicular ligament disruption: technical considerations for optimal anatomic fixation and stability

open access: yes, 2014
Distal clavicle fractures associated with coracoclavicular ligament disruption are potentially unstable and necessitate surgical treatment. Current fixation techniques are nonanatomic and do not address relevant aspects of the pathoanatomy.
