Antifungal Activity of Nanoemulsion of Iranian Tarragon (Artemisia dracunculus L.) Essential Oil

open access: yesJournal of Food Quality and Hazards Control, 2022
Background: Despite the considerable activity of herbal Essential Oils (EOs) as safe food preservatives, problems such as high volatility, low water solubility, and low stability in adverse environmental conditions restrict their use in food products ...

Flexibility and Dynamicity Enhances and Controls Supramolecular Self‐Assembly of Zinc(II) Metallogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Zinc(II) coordination complexes with tunable aryloxy‐imine ligands exhibit controllable supramolecular self‐assembly into hierarchical fibrous structures. Coordination‐driven stacking, not π–π interactions, enables gelation, dynamic assembly/disassembly, and enhanced nanomechanical properties.

A method to detect baseline emission and plant damage induced volatile emission in a greenhouse [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The objective of this research was to ascertain if 1) baseline emission and 2) damage induced emission of volatile plant substances could be detected under greenhouse conditions.

Tuning the Dielectric Properties of Individual Clay Nanosheets by Interlayer Composition: Toward Nano‐Electret Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of

Effects of virus infection on release of volatile organic compounds from insect-damaged bean, Phaseolus vulgaris [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Insects can serve as important vectors of plant pathogens, especially viruses. Insect feeding on plants causes the systemic release of a wide range of plant volatile compounds that can serve as an indirect plant defense by attracting natural enemies of ...

Advanced Flame Retardant Strategies and Fire Performance Assessment for Safer Photovoltaics in Buildings: A Two‐Part Review

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The integration of photovoltaic (PV) systems into building structures introduces distinct fire risks with critical implications for occupant safety. This review examines the key fire hazards associated with PV implementation and explores mitigation strategies, including flame‐retardant additives.

SELF-SELECTION AND EARNINGS DURING VOLATILE TRANSITION [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Using Bulgarian Integrated Household Surveys for 1995, 1997 and 2001 this paper explores determinants of labor force status – not working, public sector employment, private sector employment and self-employment – and earnings for each of the three ...

Stochastic Volatility. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Stochastic volatility (SV) is the main concept used in the elds of nancial economics and mathematical nance to deal with the endemic time-varying volatility and codependence found in nancial markets. Such dependence has been known for a long time.

Fast‐Responding O2 Gas Sensor Based on Luminescent Europium Metal‐Organic Frameworks (MOF‐76)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Luminescent MOF‐76 materials based on Eu(III) and mixed Eu(III)/Y(III) show rapid and reversible changes in emission intensity in response to O2 with very short response times. The effect is based on triplet quenching of the linker ligands that act as photosensitizers. Average emission lifetimes of a few milliseconds turn out to be mostly unaffected by
