Volcanism of the La Quinta Formation in the Perijá mountain range

open access: yesBoletín Geológico, 2020
This study reports new data on the petrography, total rock chemistry and U-Pb zircon geochronology of volcanic rocks of the La Quinta Formation that outcrop the western flank of the Perijá mountain range and the Cesar and La Guajira departments.

Sources of dehydration fluids underneath the Kamchatka arc

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Fluids released from progressive breakdown of minerals at increasing pressure within a mélange may explain the trace element systematics and stable thallium isotope data of the Kamchatka arc lavas from volcanic front to back arc.

Ultrafast Thermal Shock Synthesis of CuNiSnLa Medium‐Entropy Metallic Glass for Sustainable Nitrogen Fixation via Plasma‐Coupled Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces an ultrafast thermal shock strategy to synthesize a CuNiSnLa medium‐entropy metallic glass (MEMG). The rapid heating and cooling process generates a robust, highly active catalyst for electrocatalytic nitrate reduction to ammonia (NRA).

CO2‐to‐CO Conversion in a Gas‐Fed, Zero‐Gap, PEM Electrolyzer Enabled by Polycations and Nitrogen‐Doped Carbon‐Supported Cobalt Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A gas‐fed, zero‐gap, PEM CO2 electrolyzer is realized by incorporating PDDA+ ions onto the carbonaceous Co/N‐C electrocatalyst, with gaseous H2 and CO2 fed into the anode and cathode, respectively. Operating without an aqueous electrolyte, the system sustains a peak FECO of 65.1% at 100 mA cm−2. ABSTRACT Electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction (ECO2R)

Beyond Presumptions: Toward Mechanistic Clarity in Metal‐Free Carbon Catalysts for Electrochemical H2O2 Production via Data Science

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐free carbon catalysts enable the sustainable synthesis of hydrogen peroxide via two‐electron oxygen reduction; however, active site complexity continues to hinder reliable interpretation. This review critiques correlation‐based approaches and highlights the importance of orthogonal experimental designs, standardized catalyst passports ...

An Evaluation of Five Models of Arc Volcanism

open access: yesJournal of Petrology, 2022
AbstractA first-order observation of convergent margin volcanism is that continental arc stratovolcanoes have substantially elevated incompatible element abundances and notable fractionations of certain incompatible element ratios compared to oceanic arc stratovolcanoes.

Dynamic Etching‐Induced Cl‐Terminated Ti3C2Clx/Ti3ZnC2 Heterostructure for Ammonia Electrosynthesis and Zinc‐Nitrogen Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A stable Ti3C2Clx/Ti3ZnC2 heterostructure, fabricated by dynamic etching, exhibits outstanding electrocatalytic NRR activity (NH3 yield: 20.1 µg h−1 mg−1, FE: 38.1%) in alkaline media. The corresponding Zn‐N2 battery achieves a peak power density of 36.5 µW cm−2 and an NH3 yield of 13.1 µg h−1 mg−1, providing an advanced strategy for NH3 and ...
