Photothermal Hydrogel with Mn3O4 Nanoparticles Alleviates Intervertebral Disc Degeneration by Scavenging ROS and Regulating Extracellular Matrix Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The MPTT‐nanozyme‐hydrogel system (Mn3O4@ChS‐HA) provides a multifunctional therapeutic strategy for intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD), effectively targeting oxidative stress and enhancing AF repair by restoring extracellular matrix (ECM) and redox homeostasis.

Atomic Size Misfit for Electrocatalytic Small Molecule Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores the application and mechanisms of atomic size misfit in catalysis for small molecule activation, focusing on how structural defects and electronic properties can effectively lower the energy barriers of chemical bonds in molecules like H2O, CO2, and N2.

Endocytic Programming via Porous Silicon Nanoparticles Enhances TLR4 Nanoagonist Potency for Macrophage‐Mediated Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Porous silicon nanoparticles (PSiNPs) reprogram macrophage endocytosis of manganese@albumin‐based TLR4 nanoagonists, driving TRIF‐biased TLR4 signaling, eliciting robust proinflammatory responses, and potentiating macrophage‐mediated immunotherapeutic effects against NSCLC.

Seismic monitoring and modeling of an active volcano for prediction [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 2000
We describe seismic monitoring and modeling of an active volcano for the purpose of predicting the magma transport process in real time. We selected the Piton de la Fournaise, which has been monitored by an observatory since the early 1980s, and is active, with 28 eruptions from 1980 until August 1992.

FeDSNP‐Pa Nanoassemblies: A Triple‐Action Therapeutic Strategy Targeting Oxidative Stress, Inflammation, and Pyroptosis for Retinal Ganglion Cell Protection in Glaucoma

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
FeDSNP‐Pa, a metallized nanoparticle loaded with sodium pyruvate (Pa), exerts triple therapeutic effects by scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS), suppressing inflammatory responses, and inhibiting pyroptosis signaling pathways. This multifunctional neuroprotective strategy protecting retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) from elevated intraocular pressure ...

Advances in Understanding Intrusive, Explosive and Effusive Processes as Revealed by the Borehole Dilatometer Network on Mt. Etna Volcano

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2020
For detecting below surface sources of deformation, strain measurements offer a very large advantage (orders of magnitude) in sensitivity over displacement measurements. On active volcanoes an intriguing open challenge is to measure the strain variations

Monitoring active volcanoes: The geochemical approach

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 2011
<p>The geochemical surveillance of an active volcano aims to recognize possible signals that are related to changes in volcanic activity. Indeed, as a consequence of the magma rising inside the volcanic "plumbing system" and/or the refilling with new batches of magma, the dissolved volatiles in the magma are progressively released as a function ...

Antibody‐Programmable Bimetallic Nanozymes for Transcriptional Blockade Therapy in HER2/ER‐Positive Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Zr‐Fe MOF@Ribociclib@Herceptin (ZFRH) efficiently targets/kills Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2/Estrogen Receptor‐positive (HER2/ER+) breast cancer cells. It combats tumors by: 1) Elevating ROS, altering redox balance; 2) Inhibiting transcription; 3) Inducing pyroptosis.
