ABSTRACT Decarbonizing the intercity rail in sub‐Saharan Africa requires the use of energy architectures that go beyond traditional grid reliance at the expense of traction performance. This paper introduces a novel photovoltaic (PV)‐assisted hybrid traction topology for a 42 km Pretoria–Sandton rail corridor in South Africa, where between‐rail PV ...

Evaluation of Washing Fastness on Chitosan‐Treated Cotton Fabrics
Wearing an antimicrobial garment is a priority to guarantee the safety of clothes in hospitals and elsewhere. The antibacterial treatment must be durable and stable overtime. This work studied the washing fastness of cotton fabrics functionalized with chitosan. Chitosan deposition was carried out using acetic acid to favor chitosan solubilization.

Mechanically Stable PMMA‐Based Large‐Area Nano‐Channels with Sub‐10 nm Depth
A construction method is proposed to fabricate large‐area nanofluidic channels with sub‐10 nm channel height using PMMA spacers via electron beam lithography. The critical parameters are investigated that governs the channel mechanical stability, and how the near‐IR signal decays with increasing the channel thickness.
