Transformer-Based Dual-Mode Voltage-Controlled Oscillators

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Express Briefs, 2007
In this brief, we propose to use a transformer-based resonator to build a dual-mode oscillator, e.g., a system capable of oscillating at two different frequencies without recurring to switched inductors, switched capacitors, or varactors. The behavior of the resonator configured as a one-port and a two-port network is studied analytically, and the ...

An Improved Voltage-Mode Controller for the Quadratic Boost Converter

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Express Briefs, 2022
An improved voltage-mode controller (VMC) for the single-switch conventional quadratic boost converter (CQBC) is presented. It has a structure different from those of the existing voltage-mode controllers in that it avoids the possibility of dividing by zero and finding the square root of a term which could be negative.

Sliding mode control of voltage-controlled magnetic levitation systems

Proceedings of 2003 IEEE Conference on Control Applications, 2003. CCA 2003., 2004
The paper considers the position tracking problem of a voltage-controlled magnetic levitation system. It is well known that the control problem is quite complicated and challenging duo to inherent nonlinearities associated with the electromechanical dynamics. A sliding mode control is employed for controlling the system.

Decentralized Sliding Mode voltage control in DC microgrids

2017 American Control Conference (ACC), 2017
The present paper deals with the design of a decentralized control scheme that relies on advanced control strategies of Sliding Mode (SM) type to regulate the voltage in islanded Direct Current (DC) microgrids. More specifically, the model of an islanded DC microgrid composed of several Distributed Generation units (DGus) interconnected according to an

Third order sliding mode voltage control in microgrids

2015 European Control Conference (ECC), 2015
In this paper, we propose a robust voltage control scheme for microgrids based on a suitable designed third-order sliding mode (3-SM) controller. The use of 3-SM allows to reject matched disturbances and unmodeled dynamics, due to the presence of a voltage-sourced-converter (VSC) as interface with the main grid.

The electrothermal macromodel of voltage mode PWM controllers for SPICE

Microelectronics Journal, 2006
In the paper the problem of modelling PWM voltage mode controllers for SPICE is considered. SPICE library isothermal macromodel and a new form of the authors' electrothermal (including selfheating) macromodel of SG3525A controller are presented and compared. To illustrate the correctness and usefulness of these macromodels, some results of measurements

Simple and Digital Implementation of PI Controller Used in Voltage-Mode Control

2018 10th International Conference on Electronics, Computers and Artificial Intelligence (ECAI), 2018
This paper contains a solution for a digital PI controller implemented in a synchronous Buck converter used in Constant Voltage configuration. In such applications, a digital PI controller can replace a traditional PI compensation network made with analog components.

Parabolic-Modulated Sliding-Mode Voltage Control of a Buck Converter

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2018
Conventional hysteresis-modulation-based sliding-mode (SM) controller exhibits a varying switching frequency. Existing SM controllers for achieving constant-switching-frequency operation often have complicated structures and/or are less straightforward to design to meet different steady state, transient, and loading requirements.

INSTABILITIES IN DIGITALLY CONTROLLED VOLTAGE-MODE SYNCHRONOUS BUCK CONVERTER

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2012
In this paper, instabilities and bifurcation behavior in a DC–DC digitally controlled voltage-mode synchronous buck converter (SBC) are studied. The bifurcation diagram of the system under a proportional-integral (PI) compensation is presented. Following the system mathematical description in the continuous time domain, the z-domain pulse transfer ...

Design of a Robust Controller for a Voltage-mode Controlled Buck Converter

2020 IEEE 17th India Council International Conference (INDICON), 2020
Linear controller-based voltage-mode control finds widespread application in the power management industry due to its ease of control. A linear controller is designed based on the average small-signal model of the converter which ignores the effect of converter's parasitics, dead-time, etc.
