Voltage profile estimation and control of a distribution feeder

2008 IEEE/IAS Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Technical Conference, 2008
Monitoring the voltage profile of a distribution feeder can improve the reliability and quality of the distribution power system. However, economic constraints limit widespread deployment of monitoring equipment. This paper presents a method to estimate the voltage profile of a radial distribution feeder with limited number of monitoring points.

Characterization of flow and voltage profiles in planar electrochromatography

Journal of Chromatography A, 2005
Planar electrochromatography (PEC) is a new technology for thin layer chromatography (TLC) where the separation is driven by electroosmotic forces, not capillary action. This allows for much faster and more efficient chromatography in a planar format. Care needs to be taken when performing these experiments because voltage and flow characteristics can ...

Voltage profile improvement through high voltage distribution system

International Conference on Sustainable Energy and Intelligent Systems (SEISCON 2011), 2011
The Power Requirement in urban and metro areas is very high with an exponential growth. The distribution system with LVDS results in multiple loads fed from a bulk power transformer resulting in higher regulation in the tail ends. Moreover there is an increase in the system losses, power factor and voltage profile leads to affect the performance of the

Effects of wind turbines on voltage profile

International Aegean Conference on Electrical Machines and Power Electronics and Electromotion, Joint Conference, 2011
For distribution grids connected wind power generation, voltage quality is an important issue for the system planning purpose. The operation of wind turbines in the distribution networks may affect the voltage quality offered to the consumers. One of the most important considerations is the effect on the voltage profile, i.e.

Tidal In-Stream Generation with Improved PCC Voltage Profile

2012 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies (ISGT), 2012
While a variable speed, variable power turbine generator system is essential for maximum power extraction of the available power in a tidal stream, injection of a highly fluctuating power to the grid can result in degradation of the voltage quality. This investigation begins with an examination of the effect of injecting such variable powers to a non ...

Overview of voltage sag profile estimation

TENCON 2015 - 2015 IEEE Region 10 Conference, 2015
Voltage sags are considered important because they may cause equipment to malfunction and/or interrupt industrial processes and commerce. There is a need for voltage sag profile estimation, because voltage monitoring equipment may prove costly for utilities. This paper provides a review of existing work on voltage sag profile estimation.

On the flat voltage profile of a transmission line

Power Quality '98, 2002
It is a well known idea as well as practice to install capacitor switching stations at proper points in an electrical grid to support the voltage. This idea is further exploited in respect of obtaining a flat voltage profile over a transmission line for specified terminal conditions.

Voltage profiles and closures on Rogowski coils

IEE Proceedings - Electric Power Applications, 2002
The voltage profiles along Rogowski coils are calculated, and three alternative ways of closing the loop are compared. In plane layouts the induced voltage is uniformly distributed with respect to the angle subtended at the measured current, but is not uniform along the coil length.

Determination of dopant profiles by voltage measurements

IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 1977
The dopant profile in the channel of a double-gated J-FET with uniformly doped channel and substrate is determined from measurements of gate voltage pairs at pinchoff. This procedure offers advantages over the C-V method in cases of imprecisely known gate area, or in the presence of significant stray capacitance.

Voltage profile improvement with distributed generation

IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting, 2005, 2005
Recent changes in the energy industry initiated by deregulation have accelerated the introduction of distributed generation at the subtransmission and distribution levels. In light of the well-known benefits as well as the various issues involved in DG incorporation, this paper proposes two new quadratic voltage profile improvement indices (VPII/sub 1/
