Distributed generation and the voltage profile on distribution feeders during voltage dips

Electric Power Systems Research, 2010
Abstract The presence of distributed generators in the distribution network results in an increase of the voltage magnitude close to these generators, during a fault elsewhere in the distribution system or in the transmission system. This voltage dip mitigation capability of converter-connected distributed generation (DG) units is dependent on the ...

Improvement of voltage profile in Smart Grid using voltage sensitivity approach

2012 Students Conference on Engineering and Systems, 2012
The “Smart Grid” modernizes the aging power system and is characterised by two-way flow of electrical power and information within the network. Voltage stability is the prime concern of over stressed power system network. In Smart Grid, the overall voltage profile of the power network can be efficiently improved and thus avoids problems of voltage ...

Secondary Voltage Control: Enhancing power system voltage profile

2008 IEEE 2nd International Power and Energy Conference, 2008
In this paper, a basic overview of voltage control levels is provided with emphasis on secondary voltage control (SVC). The Brazilian simulations of implementing SVC are discussed to highlight the benefits of SVC. Also, some implementation issues are discussed.

Visualising the effect of DG on voltage profile in medium voltage distribution networks

2015 IEEE PES Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference (APPEEC), 2015
Distributed renewable generation is increasing all over the world. The effect of Distributed Generation (DG) on system voltage profile can be examined through sensitivity studies. The sensitivity matrix depicts variations in the voltage magnitude with respect to changes in active and reactive power associated with loads and local generation at ...

Decentralized Voltage Control Method to Regulate Voltage Profile in Distribution Network

2019 IEEE 8th International Conference on Advanced Power System Automation and Protection (APAP), 2019
The solar photovoltaic generation and energy storage system are rapidly interconnecting to the distribution network. It has made the voltage rise problem in distribution lines due to the reverse current flows at the PCC(Point of Common Coupling) of DG.

Relationship between generator affinity and voltage profile improvement

2012 10th International Power & Energy Conference (IPEC), 2012
This paper demonstrates the relationship between generator affinity and voltage profile improvement. Circuit theory and the partitioned Y-admittance matrix were used to derive the generator affinity for power system networks. Results show that the lowest voltages occur at buses without generator affinity.

The interpretation of radio-influence voltage profiles

Electric Power Systems Research, 1985
Abstract A method for obtaining a radio-influence voltage (RIV) versus applied voltage profile is described. Typical results are presented and suggestions are made for their interpretation. The pass/fail levels given by various national standards and methods for applying atmospheric corrections are discussed.

Impact of Distributed Generation on Voltage Profile in Distribution System

2009 International Joint Conference on Computational Sciences and Optimization, 2009
Presence of distributed generation (DG) can represent a significant impact on the distribution networks, such as system reliability, power flow, relay protection, voltage profile and stability. It brings great challenge to the traditional distribution networks.

Reevaluation of hydropathy profiles of voltage-gated ionic channels

Experientia, 1991
A reevaluation of the secondary structure of Na, Ca and K channel proteins led to the following results. Only three segments (S1, S5 and S6) of each repeat are sufficiently hydrophobic to be predicted as transmembrane helices, if a window of 19 amino acids is used.

PV reactive power injection effect on voltage profile

2015 IEEE International Conference on Electro/Information Technology (EIT), 2015
With the growing number of Distributed Generators (DGs) in power systems, demand to utilize Photovoltaic (PV) systems has also shown increase. PV systems are equipped with PV inverters in order to convert DC power to AC power. PV inverters are great sources to improve voltage profile in the utility grid using their reactive power injection feature.
