Decentralized voltage support in a Low Voltage feeder by droop based voltage controlled PVs

2013 Australasian Universities Power Engineering Conference (AUPEC), 2013
Voltage drop at network peak hours is a significant power quality problem in Low Voltage (LV) distribution feeders. Recently, voltage rise due to high penetration of Photovoltaic cells (PVs) has been creating a new power quality problem during noon periods.

Reactive power control for voltage support during type C voltage-sags

IECON 2012 - 38th Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2012
Grid faults are one of the most severe perturbations to deal with in grid connected systems. To support the grid under voltage-sags (dips), different reactive power control strategies are needed depending on the type of grid fault. One of the possible objectives when supporting the grid voltage under type C voltage sags could be to avoid undervoltage ...

Voltage Support Ability Evaluation for Regional Partitions

2020 12th IEEE PES Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference (APPEEC), 2020
With the development of power grid scale and the growth of loads, the voltage stability problem in load center area is becoming more and more prominent, meanwhile, in load margin area, the high voltage and reactive power surplus problems easily appears after the cabling rate of local power grid is increased.

Wind turbines voltage support in weak grids

2013 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting, 2013
This paper investigates how Full-Scale Converter (FSC) wind turbines can contribute to voltage support in weak grids. A novel voltage support strategy is proposed, which optimizes the voltage support during the fault. This strategy is compared to the voltage support required by two grid codes, the Danish and the German E.ON ones.

Wind farm reactive support and voltage control

2010 IREP Symposium Bulk Power System Dynamics and Control - VIII (IREP), 2010
Wind farms typically contain a variety of voltage control equipment including tap-changing transformers, switched capacitors, SVCs, STATCOMs, and the generators themselves. This paper focuses on the control of this equipment by addressing three major issues.

Transmission voltage support using distributed static compensation

2014 IEEE PES General Meeting | Conference & Exposition, 2014
FACTS devices such as static var compensators (SVC) or static compensators (STATCOM) are often examined in transmission planning studies and applied in transmission systems for reactive power control and voltage support. For some transmission applications and also for smaller utilities that need to deal with voltage issues at the distribution system ...

Voltage Sensitivity Analysis in Voltage Support of the China Southern Power Grid

2006 International Conference on Power System Technology, 2006
Supply support in receiver system can improve the stability of the system, especial voltage stability. As the receiver system in the China Southern power grid (the CSG), Guangdong Province's load is 70% of the CSG. The voltage support should be applied to improve stability. In this paper, many operation schemes are simulated.

Dynamic grid support in low voltage grids — fault ride-through and reactive power/voltage support during grid disturbances

2014 Power Systems Computation Conference, 2014
Faults in medium and high voltage grids lead to voltage sags in the low voltage level. Due to the voltage dip, distributed generators disconnect from the low voltage grid. Depending on the amount of disconnected generation, system stability could be compromised.

Distributed generation support for voltage regulation: An adaptive approach

Electric Power Systems Research, 2014
Distributed generation is expected to introduce additional issues in the operation of distribution networks. Among these, voltage variation is of particular concern and needs to be addressed concisely. Conventionally, voltage regulators are placed in transmission level, where they use reactive power control to alter voltage levels.
