Predicting market instability: New dynamics between volume and volatility [PDF]
Econophysics and econometrics agree that there is a correlation between volume and volatility in a time series. Using empirical data and their distributions, we further investigate this correlation and discover new ways that volatility and volume interact, particularly when the levels of both are high.

Most MmpLs transport lipids and glycolipids of the complex mycomembrane of mycobacteria. This study shows that MmpL10 from Mycobacterium smegmatis, the transporter of the trehalose polyphosphate precursor, harbors a coiled‐coil‐like extension. Biochemical and electron microscopy studies demonstrate that the coiled‐coil enables MmpL10 to trimerize.

Characteristics of Pore Volume Distribution and Methane Adsorption on Shales
Shale pore structure has an important effect upon shale-gas adsorption. In order to quantify their contribution to the total amount of adsorbed gas, we investigate the pore volume distribution on shale, coal, isolated kerogen, and clay samples using low ...

The Volume of the Trace-Nonnegative Polytope via the Irwin-Hall Distribution [PDF]
In this work, we find an explicit expression for the volume of the trace nonnegative polytope via a generalization of the Irwin-Hall distribution. This volume is an upper bound for the volume of all projected, normalized realizable spectra. We provide ancillary results on realizable trace-zero spectra and pose several problems suitable for further ...

The number of circulating tumor cells obtained from prostate cancer patients was increased approximately 5‐fold compared to regular CellSearch when processing 2 mL diagnostic leukapheresis material aliquots and increased by 44‐fold when processing 20 mL DLA aliquots using the flow enrichment target capture Halbach‐array.

Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...

Modeling of Stock Returns and Trading Volume [PDF]
In this study, we investigate the statistical properties of the returns and the trading volume. We show a typical example of power-law distributions of the return and of the trading volume. Next, we propose an interacting agent model of stock markets inspired from statistical mechanics [24] to explore the empirical findings.

On volume density and star formation in nearby molecular clouds [PDF]
Volume density is a key physical quantity controlling the evolution of the interstellar medium (ISM) and star formation, but it cannot be accessed directly by observations of molecular clouds. We aim at estimating the volume density distribution in nearby molecular clouds, to measure the relation between column and volume densities and to determine ...

Weak-strong uniqueness for volume-preserving mean curvature flow [PDF]
In this note, we derive a stability and weak-strong uniqueness principle for volume-preserving mean curvature flow. The proof is based on a new notion of volume-preserving gradient flow calibrations, which is a natural extension of the concept in the case without volume preservation recently introduced by Fischer et al. [arXiv:2003.05478].

In this explorative biomarker analysis, we assessed serial sampling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with CellSearch in two randomized trials testing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic breast cancer. Our data demonstrate a prognostic potential of CTCs, most apparent 4 weeks into ICI therapy.
