This paper is the first part of a two-part paper which presents a simulation algorithm of unsteady, electromagnetically driven molten metal flows with free surfaces. At the free boundary, the variable space-distribution of the normal Lorentz forces is taken into account by proper computation of the electromagnetic field and pressure.

Machine Learning Model for Gas–Liquid Interface Reconstruction in CFD Numerical Simulations
The volume of fluid (VoF) method is widely used in multiphase flow simulations to track and locate the interface between two immiscible fluids. The relative volume fraction in each cell is used to recover the interface properties (i.e., normal, location,

Conservative volume-of-fluid method for free-surface simulations on Cartesian-grids [PDF]
This paper contributes to the state of the art in Cartesian-grid methods through development of new advection and reconstruction Volume-of-Fluid (VOF) algorithms which are applicable to two and three-dimensional flows.

INFLUENCE OF VISCOSITY DIFFERENCE ON THE INSTABILITY OF THE CORE-ANNULAR FLOW
The process of destabilisation of an axi-symmetric, core-annular flow (CAF) of two Newtonian fully miscible liquids widely differing in viscosity is investigated.

VOF Calculations of Countercurrent Gas-Liquid Flow in a PWR Hot Leg
We improved the computational grid and schemes in the VOF (volume of fluid) method with the standard 𝑘−𝜀 turbulent model in our previous study to evaluate CCFL (countercurrent flow limitation) characteristics in a full-scale PWR hot leg (750 mm diameter),

An improved mathematical model to simulate mold filling process in high pressure die casting using CLSVOF method and CSF model [PDF]
A 3D mathematical model was proposed to simulate the mold filling process in high-pressure die casting (HPDC) to improve accuracy considering the surface tension. Piecewise liner interface calculation (PLIC) and volume of fluid (VOF) methods were used to

Coupling of fluid structure interaction solver with a VOF method for multiphase structure interaction [PDF]
In this work we propose a preliminary model to study the deformation of solid structures induced by the interaction with a two-phase flow. The study of Fluid Structure Interaction and multiphase problems is of great interest because of many potential ...
