EXACT STRESS INTEGRATION FOR VON MISES ELASTO-PLASTIC MODEL WITH CONSTANT HARDENING MODULUS

International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, 1996
Summary: Exact integration for the elasto-plastic von Mises yield criterion is presented for general stress space. Truncated series solution is obtained under a constant strain rate assumption. On the other hand, a trial and error definite integral solution is obtained under the assumption of constant stress rate.

An Innovative Yield Criterion Considering Strain Rates Based on Von Mises Stress

Journal of Pressure Vessel Technology, 2019
Abstract An innovative yield criterion based on von Mises stress is proposed to represent the strain rate-dependent behavior under dynamic load. Considering the strain rate in the constitutive model, the distortional strain energy density is derived and the yield criterion is established.

The Von Mises Stress Generation during Longitudinal Turning of 304 Stainless Steel

Key Engineering Materials
The longitudinal turning of 304 austenitic stainless steel (ASTSTS) occurred on a lathe using a Tungaloy-made carbide insert (SNMG 12 04 08). The machining parameters were the cutting velocity, feed rate, and depth of cut (DOC). The machining occurs according to the L27 Taguchi design.

Von Mises Stress a Robust Predictor of Ice Slab Fracture in Greenland

Fractures in Greenland’s ice slabs provide englacial drainage pathways that initially reduce surface runoff but may eventually form surface-to-bed connections that cause high-elevation hydrodynamic coupling. As a result, characterizing the large-scale spatial patterns of surface fracture in ice slabs is important for assessing the current and
