3D Simulative Investigation of Heat Transfer Enhancement Using Three Vortex Generator Types Surrounding Tube in Plate Fin Heat Exchanger [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
Vortex generator is a method to enhancing of heat exchanger performance but still have some disadvantages when the heat transfer performance increase. One of the disadvantage using vortex generator is high pressure drop.

Effect of Air Jet Vortex Generators on the Shock Wave Boundary Layer Interaction of Transonic Wing

open access: yesAerospace, 2023
The interaction between shock waves and turbulent boundary layers (SBLI) is a common phenomenon in transonic and supersonic aircraft wings. In this study, we simulated the SBLI of a classical NACA0012 wing at an angle of attack (AOA) of 1.4° and Mach ...

Assessment of the Turbine Location for Optimum Performance of the Solar Vortex Engine as a Replacement to the Tall Chimney Solar Updraft Power Plant Design [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied and Computational Mechanics
The solar vortex engine (SVE) aims to replace the tall and expensive chimney structure in solar updraft power plants by a shorter less expensive structure named the vortex generator.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

A Parametric Study of Vane and Air-jet Vortex Generators [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
An experimental parametric sturdy of vane and air-jet vortex generators in a turbulent boundary layer has been carried out. Experiments were carried out in two facilities, one with a free-stream velocity of 20 m/s and a boundary layer thickness (6) of ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Aerodynamics of vortex ingestion for aero-engines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The potential impact of inlet flow distortion on the stability and performance of aircraft engines remains a key concern for engine-airframe integration. Current and future configurations, such as Unmanned Combat Air Vehicles (UCAVs), and possible civil

Development of a Perturbation Generator for Vortex Stability Studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Theory predicts vortex instability when subjected to certain types of disturbances. It was desired to build a device which could introduce controlled velocity perturbations into a trailing line vortex in order to study the effects on stability.
