Rotavirus capsid surface protein VP4-coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles as a theranostic platform for cellular imaging and drug delivery

open access: yesBiomaterials, 2012
The development of a theranostic nanoplatform based on rotavirus structural protein VP4-coated Fe(3)O(4) nanoparticles (NPs) for dual modality magnetic resonance/fluorescence cellular imaging and drug delivery is reported.

Haemagglutination by rotaviruses in relation to VP4 genotypes

Research in Virology, 1995

Distribution of VP4 gene alleles in human rotaviruses by using probes to the hyperdivergent region of the VP4 gene

Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 1993
The rotavirus VP4 protein elicits the production of neutralizing antibodies and is known to play a role in inducing resistance to disease. At least five human rotavirus VP4 gene alleles have been described on the basis of antigenic polymorphism and/or nucleotide sequence differences.

Differences in Plaque Size and VP4 Sequence Found in SA11 Virus Clones Having Simian Authentic VP4

Virology, 1994
We isolated five stable SA11 clones (TN-S1, TN-S2, TN-L1, TN-L2, and BN-S4) with different plaque sizes from two SA11 stocks. In polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, the mobilities of the fourth, fifth, and seventh RNA segments of SA11 clones with large plaque size (TN-L1 and TN-L2) were faster than those of clones with small plaque size (TN-S1, TN-S2 ...

VP4 Is a Determinant of Alpha-Defensin Modulation of Rotaviral Infection

Journal of Virology, 2022
Rotavirus is a leading cause of severe diarrhea in young children. Like other fecal-oral pathogens, rotaviruses encounter abundant, constitutively expressed defensins in the small intestine.
