Purification and characterization of vaccinia virus structural protein VP8
Virology, 1988A major vaccinia virus core protein, designated VP8, has been purified from virions to homogeneity through DEAE-cellulose, CM-cellulose, and hydroxyapatite chromatography. VP8 migrates as a 25-kDa band in SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and sediments as a monomeric species in neutral sucrose gradient centrifugation. This protein is a significant

Technical overview of VP8, an open source video codec for the web
2011 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo, 2011VP8 is an open source video compression format supported by a consortium of technology companies. This paper provides a technical overview of the format, with an emphasis on its unique features. The paper also discusses how these features benefit VP8 in achieving high compression efficiency and low decoding complexity at the same time.

VP8-01: Realistic Spin Model for Multiferroic NiI2
2023A realistic first-principle-based spin Hamiltonian is constructed for the type-II multiferroic NiI2, using a symmetry-adapted cluster expansion method. Besides single ion anisotropy and isotropic Heisenberg terms, this model further includes the Kitaev interaction and a biquadratic term, and can well reproduce striking features of the experimental ...

Biosynthesis and post-translational cleavage of vaccinia virus structural protein VP8
Virology, 1988We have obtained antiserum against highly purified vaccinia virus structural protein VP8, a major DNA binding protein present in the viral core particle. The antiserum has been used to monitor the course of the biosynthesis of this protein. The protein can first be detected in extracts of infected cells at 4 hr postinfection (p.i.).

Cloning and Expression of Human Rotavirus Spike Protein, VP8*, in Escherichia coli
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2001A system for the expression and purification of soluble VP8*, part of the human rotavirus (HRV) spike protein, was established by expressing VP8* as a fusion protein with glutathione S-transferase (GST). VP8 cDNA, from the Wa strain of HRV, was prepared by RT-PCR, cloned into a pUC18 plasmid, and inserted into a pGEX-4T-2 GST fusion vector. The GST-VP8*

The maize d2003, a novel allele of VP8, is required for maize internode elongation
Plant Molecular Biology, 2013The d2003 is a natural dwarf mutant from maize inbred line K36 and has less than one-third of K36 plant height with severely shortened internodes. In this study, we reported the cloning of d2003 gene using positional cloning. The results showed that there was a single-base insertion in the coding region of Viviparous8 (VP8) in d2003 mutant, which ...

The role and implication of rotavirus VP8∗ in viral infection and vaccine development
VirologyRotaviruses (RVs) are major causative agents of diarrhea in both humans and animals worldwide. Despite the successful development of live attenuated vaccines, the efficacy of these vaccines remains low in developing countries and RV infections still result in more than 200,000 deaths in children under 5 years old globally each year.

The VP8 video codec - overview and comparison to H.264/AVC
2011 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics -Berlin (ICCE-Berlin), 2011VP8 is announced by Google as a royalty-free alternative to the H.264/AVC video codec, promising comparable picture quality, data rate and encoding speed. This paper compares the two codecs analysing the published statements and comparing them with results of our own experiments.

Coding efficiency of VP8 and VP9 compression standards for high resolutions
2016 ELEKTRO, 2016Last few years the interest of multimedia services has rapidly increased. This leads to requirements of quality assessment, especially in video domain. Compression together with transmission link imperfection are two main factors that influence the quality.
