Shot noise spectroscopy on a semiconductor quantum dot in the elastic and inelastic cotunneling regimes

open access: yes, 2013
We report shot noise spectroscopy on a semiconductor quantum dot in a cotunneling regime. The DC conductance measurements show clear signatures of both elastic and inelastic cotunneling transport inside a Coulomb diamond.

Co‐Occurring Non‐Cardiac Congenital Anomalies Among Cases With Congenital Heart Defects

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cases with congenital heart defects (CHD) often have other associated anomalies. The aim of this investigation was to assess the prevalence and the types of co‐occurring anomalies in CHD in a well‐defined population. The anomalies co‐occurring with CHD were ascertained in all live births, stillbirths and terminations of pregnancy for fetal ...

Enabling the study of gene function in gymnosperms: Virus‐induced gene silencing in Ephedra tweedieana

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise As the sister clade to angiosperms, extant gymnosperms are crucial for reconstructing ancestral gene regulatory networks in seed plants. This highlights the need for model systems representing each of their distinct lineages. However, tools to quickly and effectively investigate gene function in gymnosperms are still limited due to the

Review Of surgery of VSD in Ibn Al-Nafees Teaching Hospital

open access: yesمجلة كلية الطب, 2015
Background: Ventricular septal defect (VSD) is the most commonly recognized congenital heart defect. Isolated VSDs represent about 20-30% of all congenital cardiac malformations and have a prevalence of 1- 2 % per 1,000 live births. Objective: This study

Robust Control Using a Matrix Converter to Enhance Wind Turbine Systems

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study uses a more efficient and effective solution to improve the operational performance of a wind turbine‐based power system. This system uses a doubly fed induction generator and relies on a matrix converter and fractional‐order proportional–integral controller.

Theory of electronic properties and quantum spin blockade in a gated linear triple quantum dot with one electron spin each

open access: yes, 2011
We present a theory of electronic properties and the spin blockade phenomena in a gated linear triple quantum dot. Quadruple points where four different charge configurations are on resonance, particularly involving (1,1,1) configuration, are considered.

Feasibility of Imaging the Uvula at the Midtrimester Anomaly Ultrasound

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, EarlyView.
Objectives The fetal palate is not routinely imaged as part of the midtrimester fetal anomaly ultrasound, despite being associated with many syndromes. The “equal sign” depicts the lateral borders of the uvula on 2‐dimensional fetal ultrasound. We assessed the feasibility of adding the equal sign to the midtrimester fetal anomaly ultrasound.

Anatomy of the ventricular septal defect in congenital heart defects: a random association?

open access: yesOrphanet Journal of Rare Diseases, 2018
Background A ventricular septal defect (VSD) is an integral part of most congenital heart defects (CHD). To determine the prevalence of VSD in various types of CHD and the distribution of their anatomic types.

A Gate-Induced Switch in Zigzag Graphene Naoribbons and Charging Effects

open access: yes, 2010
Using non-equilibrium Green's function formalism, we investigate nonlinear transport and charging effects of gated graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) with even number of zigzag chains.

Seebeck coefficient of thermoelectric moleculat junction: First-principles calculations

open access: yes, 2009
A first-principles approach is presented for the thermoelectricity in molecular junctions formed by a single molecule contact. The study investigates the Seebeck coefficient considering the source-drain electrodes with distinct temperatures and chemical ...
