VTA Multifaceted Modulation of CA1 Local Circuits

Neurobiology of Learning and Memory, 2023
Excitatory pyramidal (PYR) cell activation of interneurons (INT) produces network oscillations that underlie cognitive processes in the hippocampus (CA1). Neural projections from the ventral tegmental area (VTA) to the hippocampus contribute to novelty detection by modulating CA1 PYR and INT activity.

On the retention of neurotensin in the ventral tegmental area (VTA) despite destruction of the main neurotensinergic afferents of the VTA — Implications for the organization of forebrain projections to the VTA

Brain Research, 2006
Neurotensin (NT) modulates ventral tegmental area (VTA) signaling in a manner relevant to psychostimulant drug actions, thus inviting evaluation of psychostimulant effects in conditions of reduced or absent VTA NT. However, in a preliminary study, NT immunoreactivity (-ir) in the VTA was unaffected following destruction of the main concentration of ...

Implementing VTA, a tensor accelerator on Flow-in-Cloud

Proceedings of the the 8th International Virtual Conference on Applied Computing & Information Technology, 2021
A multi-FPGA system Flow-in-Cloud (FiC) consists of nodes with a mid-class cost-efficient FPGA and Raspberry Pi3B connected with high speed serial links. It aims to implement a large scale AI applications which is difficult to be implemented on a single FPGA by dividing the target into a number of boards.

Anticancer Agents: VTA or VDA

Current Bioactive Compounds, 2009
The tumor vasculature is quite an attractive target for anti-cancer/anti-tumor therapy because the blood vessels provide the route for nutrient/waste and oxygen/carbon dioxide exchanges as well as a convenient route for tumor metastatic spread. The complex interplay of the tumor with the local blood vasculature is intriguing.

Neuropeptide FF in the VTA blocks the analgesic effects of both intra-VTA morphine and exposure to stress

Brain Research, 1997
It has been shown previously that i.c.v. administration of neuropeptide FF (NPFF) attenuates the analgesic effects of exogeneous and endogeneous opioids. Here, we report that intra-ventral tegmental area (VTA) NPFF pre-treatment blocks the analgesia induced by either intra-VTA morphine or exposure to footshock stress in the formalin test for tonic pain.

PAM helps solve VTA's SHANKless problem

Nature Neuroscience, 2016
Developmental knockdown of Shank3 affects excitatory synaptic transmission, activity of midbrain dopamine neurons, and behavior. Optogenetic dopamine release or enhancing metabotropic glutamate receptor signaling rescues these deficits.

Ineffective VTA Disinhibition in Protracted Opiate Withdrawal

Trends in Neurosciences, 2015
Recently, Kaufling and Aston-Jones showed that, under protracted opiate withdrawal, control of dopamine activity by the tail of the ventral tegmental area shifts from a bidirectional influence towards one-way inhibition. Beyond dysphoric states accompanying withdrawal, these results may also impact research on depression and individual differences in ...

The Primate Substantia Nigra and VTA: Integrative Circuitry and Function

Critical Reviews™ in Neurobiology, 1997
A substantial amount of research has focused on the midbrain dopamine system and its role in mediating a wide range of behaviors. In diseases in which dopamine function is compromised, patients exhibit a constellation of symptoms suggesting that the dopamine system plays an important role in the integration of several functions.

VTAdopamine neuron plasticity – the unusual suspects

European Journal of Neuroscience, 2016
AbstractDopamine neurons in the ventral tegmental area (VTA) are involved in a variety of physiological and pathological conditions, ranging from motivated behaviours to substance use disorders. While many studies have shown that these neurons can express plasticity at excitatory and inhibitory synapses, little is known about how inhibitory inputs and ...

VTA? Human after all

This article critically examines the Visual Tree Assessment (VTA) method and its limitations in current arboricultural practice. The authors argue that VTA, while necessary in its time, is now outdated not because of its shortcomings but because it does not precisely define the method for obtaining a result, leading to significant variability between ...
