Verocytotoxin-producing Escherichia coli (VTEC) O157 and other VTEC from human infections in England and Wales: 1995–1998 [PDF]
A total of 3429 isolations of verocytotoxin-producing Escherichia coli O157 (VTEC O157) was confirmed from human sources in England and Wales during the period 1995-1998. The largest annual total was 1087 in 1997. Most infections occurred in the third quarter of each year.

Faecal shedding of verotoxigenic Escherichia coli in cattle in the Czech Republic
A survey to estimate the prevalence of verotoxigenic E. coli (VTEC) or enterohaemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC) in rectal swabs from healthy dairy cattle aged three weeks, three months and one year was conducted in three herds from the Czech Republic. Screening

Global and regional source attribution of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli infections using analysis of outbreak surveillance data [PDF]
Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) infections pose a substantial health and economic burden worldwide. To target interventions to prevent foodborne infections, it is important to determine the types of foods leading to illness.

Seventy-six animals including cattle, sheep, horses, 6 species of zoo animals were employed for collection of fresh feces in order to detect verotoxigenic Esherichia coli (VTEC) by safe, quick and sensitive PCR-based molecular methods. Bacterial cell disruption with bead-beating followed by bacterial DNA purification with hydroxyapatide chromatography ...
