Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Effects of Low Reynolds Number on Wake-Generated Unsteady Flow of an Axial-Flow Turbine Rotor
The unsteady flow field downstream of axial-flow turbine rotors at low Reynolds numbers was investigated experimentally using hot-wire probes. Reynolds number, based on rotor exit velocity and rotor chord length Re out,RT

A Research on Rotor/Ship Wake Characteristics under Atmospheric Boundary Layer Conditions
The environment for the shipboard landing and takeoff of helicopters is extremely complex and significantly affects their safe flight. To address the intricate characteristics of the flow field during these operations, a simulation method suitable for ...

Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Numerical Simulation and Analysis of Turbulent Characteristics near Wake Area of Vacuum Tube EMU
Due to aerodynamic resistance, aerodynamic noise, and other problems, the further development of traditional high-speed electric multiple units (EMUs) on the open line has been seriously restricted, and the construction of a vacuum pipeline high-speed ...

Wake rotation impacts on wake decay
Abstract This study considers the behavior of a well-conditioned swirling turbulent wake. A custom swirling wake generator was used to produce a swirling wake absent of a tower that complicates the flow regime. Four swirling wakes were studied with swirl numbers ranging from 0.19 to 0.37 and compared to a non-swirling counterpart.

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe
