The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

MultiModal Wireless Sensor Networks based on Wake-up Radio Receivers: An analytical Model for Energy Consumption

Kelvin-Mach wake in a two-dimensional Fermi sea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The dispersion law for plasma oscillations in a two-dimensional electron gas in the hydrodynamic approximation interpolates between $\Omega \propto \sqrt{q}$ and $\Omega \propto q$ dependences as the wave vector $q$ increases.

POD‐based analysis of a wind turbine wake under the influence of tower and nacelle

open access: yesWind Energy, 2020
The wake produced by a model wind turbine is investigated using proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) of numerical data obtained by large eddy simulations at a diameter-based Reynolds number Re = 6 : 3 × 10 5 .

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Numerical Investigation of the Influence of the Wake of Wind Turbines with Different Scales Based on OpenFOAM

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
The wake of a wind turbine has an important influence on the output power of wind farms. Staggered height layout is an emerging method for the layout optimization of wind farms.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Effects of Rotor-Rotor Interaction on the Wake Structure and Thrust Generation of a Quadrotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
In this paper, the effects of rotor-rotor interaction on the wake structure and thrust generation of a quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) are experimentally investigated in the rotor tip Reynolds number range of 34000 – 54000. The interaction

Day/night variations of myeloid and lymphoid cell subsets in the murine inguinal lymph node

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The circadian system is involved in the temporal regulation of the immune system. Our study reveals that two innate immune populations, NKT cells and neutrophils, predominate at the beginning of the day in healthy mice, highlighting how the time of day influences immune responses.

Wakes and differential charging of large bodies in low Earth orbit [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Highlights of earlier results using the Inside-Out WAKE code on wake structures of LEO spacecraft are reviewed. For conducting bodies of radius large compared with the Debye length, a high Mach number wake develops a negative potential well ...
