A CFD model of the wake of an offshore wind farm: using a prescribed wake inflow

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2007
An CFD model of the wake of an offshore wind farm, expanding existing measurements is proposed. The method is based on solving the Navier Stokes equation in a large domain downstream an offshore wind farm. The inflow of the domain is estimated using existing met mast measurements from both free stream and directly in-wake conditions.

Modelling and assessing the near-wake representation and turbulence behaviour of control-oriented wake models

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2020
Abstract Due to the interaction between the wake of an upstream turbine on a downstream turbine, power losses and increased fatigue loads occur. By yawing the upstream turbine with regard to the wind direction, one can potentially reduce the power losses of the downstream turbine and reduce the fatigue loads.

Added Prognostic Value of EEG Reactivity in Comatose Patients Following Cardiac Arrest

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To evaluate the added prognostic value of EEG reactivity for favorable outcome compared with background analysis during and after targeted temperature management (TTM). Methods Prospective observational cohort study of comatose post–cardiac arrest patients admitted to a single academic center between 2017 and 2022, all undergoing ...

Investigation of Wake Expansion for Spanwise Arranged Turbines in the Offshore Wind Farm by Large Eddy Simulation

open access: yesEnergies
The issue of wind turbine wake effects in the offshore environment has become increasingly important with the development of offshore wind farms. The problem of wake dispersion from turbines plays a crucial role in evaluating the wake velocity deficit ...

In the wake of the social model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The 13 publications included in this thesis constitute a body of work situated within the interdisciplinary field of disability studies. As such, they are formed in the wake of the social model of disability, a radical, field-forming idea that dominates the disabled people’s movement, disability policy and practice and ...

White Matter Hyperintensity Burden and Short‐Interval Change Associated With Sleep Apnoea in the UK Biobank

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Purpose White matter hyperintensities (WMH) are a core neuroimaging marker of cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD). Sleep apnoea (SA) is a recognized vascular risk factor, but its associations with regional WMH burden, short‐interval WMH change and cognitive performance in population‐based cohorts remain incompletely defined. We

Wake structure and kinematics in the vortex ring state

open access: yes, 2009
High-resolution computational simulations of the vortical wake of a rotor operating both near to and within the vortex ring state have been conducted using Brown's vorticity transport model.

Aquaporin‐4 in Narcolepsy Type 1: Investigation of Perivascular Fluid Movement in Sleep Disorders

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Narcolepsy type 1 (NT1) is caused by the loss of hypocretin‐1 leading to excessive daytime sleepiness and cataplexy. Additionally, disrupted nighttime sleep has become an increasingly recognized feature of NT1. As the glymphatic fluid movement has been linked to sleep architecture, we investigated cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) Aquaporin‐4 (AQP4 ...
