Modeling the effects of active wake mixing on wake behavior through large-scale coherent structures [PDF]
The use of active wake mixing (AWM) to mitigate downstream turbine wakes has created new opportunities for reducing power losses in wind farms. However, many current analytical or semi-empirical wake models do not capture the flow instabilities that are

The prediction of transonic loading advancing helicopter rotors [PDF]
Two different schemes are presented for including the effect of rotor wakes on the finite-difference prediction of rotor loads. The first formulation includes wake effects by means of a blade-surface inflow specification.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

A GENERAL MODEL FOR UNIFICATION OF THE THREE PROCESSES OF SLEEP-WAKE REGULATION
The most-known model of sleep-wake regulation includes different formulae describing the kinetics of three separate processes, i.e., homeostatic, circadian, and ultradian.

Ferroelectricity in thin HfO2‐based films offers great possibilities for next‐generation neuromorphic memory devices. There, the response to subcoercive voltage signals is driven by the movement of mobile interfaces and their interaction with crystal defects – a yet rather unexplored aspect, which we shed light on and gain new insights into the complex

Morningness–Eveningness Preference and Motor Wake–Sleep Inertia in Adolescents
The aim of the present work was to analyze possible differences in the wake–sleep and sleep–wake transition in relation to adolescents’ circadian preference using actigraphy.

Ultrasmall Platinum Nanoparticles for Radiation‐Enhanced Cancer Therapy
This work proposes a nanomedicine‐based strategy to enhance X‐ray radiotherapy for cancer treatment. Ultrasmall Pt‐NPs exhibit catalase‐like activity that may contribute to modulation of the tumor microenvironment and amplify interactions between radiation and biological matter, leading to increased DNA damage.

Evaluation of VSAERO in prediction of aerodynamic characteristics of helicopter hub fairings [PDF]
A low-order panel code, VSAERO, was used to predict the aerodynamic characteristics of helicopter hub fairings. Since the simulation of this kind of bluff body by VSAERO was not documented before, the VSAERO solutions were correlated with experimental ...
