Warfarin use and vestibular dysfunction insights from NHANES data, network pharmacology, Mendelian randomization, and molecular docking

open access: yesScientific Reports
Despite numerous anticoagulants available, warfarin is widely used due to its efficacy and cost-effectiveness in treating thromboembolic diseases. However, its potential impact on vestibular function remains unexplored.

MELD score predicts outcomes in patients with advanced heart failure: A longitudinal evaluation

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 839-847, April 2025.
Abstract Aims Advanced heart failure (AHF) is characterized by recurrent episodes of haemodynamic instability and frequent hospitalizations, leading to a progressive decline in quality of life and high mortality rates. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effect of the model for end‐stage liver disease (MELD) score and its variations in ...

Transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy: Literature review and red‐flag symptom clusters for each cardiology specialty

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 955-967, April 2025.
Abstract Wild‐type transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTRwt‐CM) is a progressive and infiltrative cardiac disorder that may cause fatal consequences if left untreated. The estimated survival time from diagnosis is approximately 3–6 years. Because of the non‐specificity of initial symptom manifestation and insufficient awareness among treating ...

Potential neuroprotective and therapeutic agents and their mechanisms for irradiation‐induced brain injury

open access: yesIbrain, EarlyView.
In this review, agents such baicalein, troxerutin, epigallocatechin gallate, quercetin, melatonin, valproic acid, lithium, neurosteroid progesterone, as well as minocycline have been implicated as neuroprotective agents for irradiation‐induced neurological deficits. Also, agents such as glucocorticoids, methylphenidate, vitamin E, bisdemethoxycurcumin,

Vascular Reconstruction in Extremity Soft Tissue Sarcomas: A Systematic Review and Single‐Arm Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The management of extremity soft tissue sarcomas (STS) involving major vessels presents unique challenges, historically leading to amputation. Advances in vascular reconstruction have enabled limb‐sparing surgery (LSS), but outcomes and perioperative risks remain uncertain.

The Impact of Obesity on Durable Left Ventricular Assist Device Implantation: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
14 100 LVAD patients across 21 studies were analyzed. Findings indicated that obese LVAD recipients had lower short‐term mortality and higher risk of infection, thrombosis and right heart failure. There was no difference in long‐term survival between obese and non‐obese patients.

A model‐based analysis of the CYP2C9 genotype effects on fluconazole inhibition using flurbiprofen, ketoprofen and tolbutamide as probe drugs

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background The activity of CYP2C9, an important drug metabolism enzyme, is subject to the impact of genetic polymorphism. The single nucleotide polymorphism *3 is significantly associated with the increased exposure of CYP2C9 substrates. In addition, metabolic enzyme inhibitors such as fluconazole may also increase the drug exposure of CYP2C9 ...

Correlation between single nucleotide polymorphisms in CYP4F2 and warfarin dosing in chinese valve replacement patients

open access: yesJournal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, 2012
Background Individuals with implanted mechanical valve prostheses require lifelong anticoagulation therapy with warfarin. The narrow therapeutic index of warfarin makes it difficult to dose and maintain proper anticoagulation.
