Single and combined effect of kinesio tape and warm-up on sprint cycling performance
Background The fact that kinesio tape may be capable to enhance muscle power would qualify it as practical tool to be considered during passive warm-up (WU) or coupled with active WU processes prior to power-based performance.

Abstract Fibre inflationary models are constructed in type-IIB string flux compactification. These models have been shown to be in agreement with the cosmological observations under appropriate choices of parameters, which originate from their string theory construction. In the present work, we embed such models, originally studied

Warm-up for Sprint Swimming: Race-Pace or Aerobic Stimulation? A Randomized Study [PDF]
The aim of this study was to compare the effects of 2 different warm-up intensities on 100-m swimming performance in a randomized controlled trial. Thirteen competitive swimmers performed two 100-m freestyle time-trials on separate days after either ...

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Repair of neuronal DNA damage in Alzheimer's disease by KCL‐286. (A) Amyloid‐β oligomers and plaques impair neuronal DNA repair pathways, leading to DNA double‐strand breaks and glial activation. (B) KCL‐286 activates RARβ/RXR signalling via retinoic acid response elements (RAREs), associated with increased BRCA1 expression, enhanced DNA repair and ...

NMR metabolomics revealed concentration‐dependent metabolic perturbations in HepG2 cells exposed to H2O2. Rifampicin pretreatment enhanced metabolic competence, attenuated toxin‐induced alterations and produced metabolite profiles more consistent with human liver physiology, supporting the use of CYP450‐induced HepG2 models for improved in vitro ...

Improving Engine Oil Warm Up through Waste Heat Recovery
In the transportation sector, engine oil thermal management has not yet received the attention it deserves in the path towards carbon dioxide and pollutants reduction. During the homologation cycle (which represents a typical daily trip), oil temperature
