Advantages of Servo Presses in Metal Forming With a Focus on Warm Forming of Sheets

ASME 2010 International Manufacturing Science and Engineering Conference, Volume 1, 2010
Servo presses are recently introduced metal forming machinery and they are in many ways, a hybrid of mechanical and hydraulic presses. They are designed to combine the strengths of conventional mechanical and hydraulic presses, and at the same time to minimize their constraints.

DLC for tools protection in warm massive forming

Diamond and Related Materials, 2003
Abstract In order to find an alternative to solid lubricants in bulk metal forming with contact temperatures between work piece and tool up to 600 °C, low wear friction coatings like hydrogenated amorphous diamond-like carbon (DLC), silicon doped diamond-like carbon (Si-DLC), sputtered molybdenum disulfide and a multilayer system of TiC and TiN (TiCN)

Alloyability of warm formed FeCrAl powder compacts

Materials Today Communications, 2015
Abstract Alloyability of warm formed Fe-based powder compacts is presented here. Iron (Fe) powder ASC100.29 was mixed with other alloying elements, namely chromium (Cr), and aluminum (Al) powder for 60 min and compacted at 150 °C by applying 130 kN axial loading, simultaneously from upper and lower punches to generate green compacts.

Warm forming of aluminium/magnesium alloy sheet

Journal of Mechanical Working Technology, 1978
At this time, when energy conservation is gaining popularity, the increased use of aluminium sheets for motor-car body construction to reduce the overall weight of the car, and so use less fuel, is appropriate. Pure aluminium, as used in the days of hand-made bodies, is now quite out of the question for the mass-produced car, due to inherent softness ...

Warm forming of thermoplastic fibre metal laminates

Materials Research Proceedings, 2023
Abstract. In this paper, the forming behaviour of sheet-like metal/polymer/metal (MPM) and thermoplastic fibre metal laminates (TFMLs) is introduced. TFMLs are based on thin metallic cover sheets and fibre-reinforced thermoplastic matrix (here polyamide 6).

Development of a Processing Map for Use in Warm-Forming and Hot-Forming Processes

Metallurgical Transactions A, 1981
A fracture initiation map is developed which should be useful in fast forming operations at strain rates greater than about 10-3 s-1 at elevated temperatures. Two types of cavitation mechanisms, one pertaining to cavity formation at second phase particles, as in ductile fracture, and the other pertaining to wedge type microcracking at grain boundaries,

Determination of warm forming limit diagram for ZEK100

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2013
The formability of a rare-earth alloyed magnesium sheet, ZEK100, is studied through determination of its Forming Limit Diagram (FLD). Limiting dome height experiments were performed at elevated temperatures with in situ digital image correlation (DIC) measurement of strain.

Hot and warm forming of 2618 aluminium alloy

Journal of Light Metals, 2002
Abstract The hot and warm formability of 2618 aluminium alloy, in the as-solutioned condition, was investigated in extended ranges of temperature and strain rate by means of torsion testing. Precipitation was found to occur during deformation. The effect of the precipitation of second phase particles, occurring during deformation, on the flow curve ...
