Warm incremental forming of magnesium alloy AZ31
CIRP Annals, 2008Industrial application of magnesium alloy AZ31 is dramatically increasing due to the very competitive mechanical strength vs. weight ratio. On the other hand, AZ31 is very difficult to be formed at room temperature. In this study incremental forming of the above material is taken into account, with particular reference to formability limits.

Warm Forming High-Strength Aluminum Automotive Parts
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1977<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper is concerned with press forming of work hardened or age hardened aluminum alloy sheet at temperatures in the range 100-300°C. By controlling the time and temperature of forming below that necessary for recrystallization or over-aging the formability is significantly enhanced while a high room temperature

Tests are described in which graphite substances are used both in ring tests and for the extrusion of thin and thick wall cans at a stock temperature of 800°C. The use of copper plating is examined as a possible protective layer in these operations.

Warm-Forming of Light-Weight Alloys under Multi-Stage Forming Process
Advanced Materials Research, 2009This paper aims at presenting an experimental investigation to obtain the optimum formability of light-weight alloys under the multi-stage forming process. Titanium alloy sheets (Ti-6Al-4V) and aluminium alloy sheets (AA5052) are selected as forming specimens.

New warm forming processes to produce hollow shafts
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2001Abstract In order to maintain their competitiveness, the producers constantly have to reduce their costs and to improve the quality of their products. The trend towards lightweight construction in vehicle manufacturing results in an increased use of hollow shafts in vehicle gear boxes.

How are large western hemisphere warm pools formed?
Progress in Oceanography, 2006During the boreal summer the Western Hemisphere warm pool (WHWP) stretches from the eastern North Pacific to the tropical North Atlantic and is a key feature of the climate of the Americas and Africa. In the summers following nine El Nino events during 1950-2000, there have been five instances of extraordinarily large warm pools averaging about twice ...

DLC for tools protection in warm massive forming
Diamond and Related Materials, 2003Abstract In order to find an alternative to solid lubricants in bulk metal forming with contact temperatures between work piece and tool up to 600 °C, low wear friction coatings like hydrogenated amorphous diamond-like carbon (DLC), silicon doped diamond-like carbon (Si-DLC), sputtered molybdenum disulfide and a multilayer system of TiC and TiN (TiCN)

Powder material parameters establishment through warm forming route
Materials & Design, 2011Abstract This paper presents the establishment of the properties of powder materials through experimentation at elevated temperature ranging from room temperature (30 °C) to 150 °C. Uniaxial die compaction experiments were conducted to establish the powder properties such as densification, Young’s modulus, spring-back, plastic index, elastic index ...

On the Warm Forming of Machining Steels
1983Metal forming processes are often followed by a machining operation. However, machining of cold extrusion steels embraces some difficulties. Therefore, the formability of machining steels was investigated.

Plant Life Forms of Warm Desert Climates
1996Deserts occur where the driest climates on earth prevail. If the arid zone is con-tained within the 200-mm isohyet, then the warm deserts can be identified as arid regions in the subtropics and tropics having mean monthly temperatures that exceed 20 °C in the hottest month and 9 °C in the coldest month, hence locations that experience few, if any, and ...
