Enhancing biohydrogen production from waste activated sludge disintegrated by sodium citrate

Fuel, 2019
Abstract This study adopted sodium citrate, a cation-binding agent, to disintegrate the complex matrix of waste activated sludge, which aimed to improve hydrogen fermentation efficiency of the sludge. Results showed that the sodium citrate treatment effectively disintegrated the sludge flocs through removing bridging multivalent cations, which led to

Using sodium D-gluconate to suppress hydrogen production in wet aluminium waste dust collection systems

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2020
The reaction of aluminium dust and water generated in the production of aluminium products generates hydrogen, which poses a risk to wet collection systems for hydrogen explosions. In this paper, non-toxic and environmentally friendly sodium D-gluconate is used to suppress the hydrogen production reaction of aluminium waste dust and water.

Use of Waste Sodium Sulfate from Battery Chemical Production in the Preparation of Alkali-Activated Materials [PDF]

open access: yesACS Sustainable Resource Management
Large amounts of metal sulfates are formed annually in industrial activities. Until now, there has been no cost-efficient technical method for the treatment of sulfate wastes. In this article, we present a study on the reuse of waste sodium sulfate solution from battery chemical production in the synthesis of alkali-activated materials (AAMs).

Utilization of Tannery Wastes for the Production of Sodium Chromate(VI)

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2001
This paper presents results of research on utilizing chromic waste, such as chromic mud from the current production and chromic tannery waste in the sodium chromate production process, in the area determined by the range of variation of selected process parameters. It was established that it was possible to substitute chromic ore used as a raw material

Minimisation and utilisation of waste mineral sludge from sodium perborate production

Waste Management & Research: The Journal for a Sustainable Circular Economy, 2002
Various approaches to waste minimisation, waste treatment and recycling or safe disposal of the waste mineral sludge from sodium perborate production are presented and critically discussed. Some most promising actions for waste (or its harmful potential) reduction on the production level are identified.

Synthesis of sodium silicate using industrial by-products glauber’s salt and microsilica: Effective reuse of the waste

Waste Management, 2021
Large amounts of by-products, including glauber's salt (GS) and microsilica (MS), are accumulated from chlor-alkali industry and ferrosilicon industry development, which not only wastes precious resources, but also causes serious environmental problems.

Combined sodium citrate and ultrasonic pretreatment of waste activated sludge for cost effective production of biogas

Bioresource Technology, 2023
This study aimed to pretreat the waste activated sludge (WAS) by ultrasonication in an energy efficient way by combining sodium citrate with ultrasonic pretreatment at 0.03 g/g suspended solids (SS) of dosage. The ultrasonic pretreatment was done at various (20-200 W) power levels, sludge concentration (7 to 30 g/L), sodium citrate dosages (0.01 to 0.2
