Highly Compacted Sodium Bentonite for Isolating Rock-Deposited Radioactive Waste Products
Nuclear Technology, 1979Sodium saturated bentonite clay compacted to a high density is a very efficient isolation for preventing radiotoxic nuclides from deeply buried canisters with radioactive wastes from reaching the biosphere. The main function of the bentonite, which is applied in the form of blocks between the rock and the canisters in large boreholes, is to provide a ...

AbstractSix kitchen wastes of raw, acid‐washed, NaCl‐loaded, Na2CO3‐loaded, NaB‐loaded, and Na‐exchanged noodles were torrefied at 300 °C. The six torrefied noodle samples were then gasified in air (equivalence ratio = 0.2) at 600, 800, and 1000 °C, respectively. The results suggest sodium could significantly increase the production of CO and H2.

The paper deals with a new method of utilization of the spent liquid from common salt plant. That brine is utilized by means of another liquid waste from the ammonia soda production. The experimental work was focused on the kinetics of the crystallization with chemical reaction as well as on the maximum decreasing possibility of sulfates concentration ...
