Impact of drought stress on water potential and gas exchange parameters in Macedonian oak (Quercus trojana P.B. Webb.) seedlings

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Forestry, 2021
The increase in the duration and severity of summer droughts due to global climate change will adversely affect forests, and it is very important to examine the drought stress that trees are exposed to as a species due to increasing drought and to ...

Kinetics and Products of the Acid-Catalyzed Ring-Opening of Atmospherically Relevant Butyl Epoxy Alcohols [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Epoxydiols are produced in the gas phase from the photo-oxidation of isoprene in the absence of significant mixing ratios of nitrogen oxides (NO_x). The reactive uptake of these compounds onto acidic aerosols has been shown to produce secondary organic ...

Encapsulation of Ethylene Gas into Granular Cold-Water-Soluble Starch: Structure and Release Kinetics [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2017
Ethylene gas was introduced into granular cold-water-soluble (GCWS) starches using a solid encapsulation method. The morphological and structural properties of the novel inclusion complexes (ICs) were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry, and Raman spectroscopy.

A summer time series of particulate carbon in the air and snow at Summit, Greenland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Carbonaceous particulate matter is ubiquitous in the lower atmosphere, produced by natural and anthropogenic sources and transported to distant regions, including the pristine and climate-sensitive Greenland Ice Sheet.

Obesity is positively associated with dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate concentrations at 7 y in Chilean children of normal birth weight. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
BACKGROUND: In low-birth-weight girls, obesity increases the risk of premature adrenarche and metabolic complications. However, the consistency of this association in normal-birth-weight children and its potential mediators remain unknown.

Role of Trichoderma spp. in mitigating water deficiency and promoting Eucalyptus urophylla growth [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology
Trichoderma spp. induce physiological and biochemical changes in plants, potentially enhancing growth and mitigating water deficit effects. This study evaluated morphophysiological parameters, water status indicators, gas exchange, and biochemical and ...

Differences between water-soluble and water-insoluble melanin derived from Inonotus hispidus mushroom

open access: yesFood Chemistry: X, 2022
Melanin is a natural pigment with a high content and a complex polymer structure. In this study, both water-soluble and water-insoluble melanin were obtained from the fruiting bodies of the mushroom Inonotus hispidus, and scanning electron microscopy ...

Accumulation of water-soluble gas by degasification: One of important mechanisms of large gas accumulations in the Xujiahe Formation, Sichuan Basin

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2011
: In recent years, a lot of lithologic/structural-lithologic gas reservoirs were found in the Xujiahe Formation, Upper Triassic, Sichuan Basin, and most of the reservoirs contain water.

Study on Water-Soluble Phenolic Resin Gels for High-Temperature and High-Salinity Oil Reservoir

open access: yesGels, 2023
High water cut of produced fluid is one of the most common problems in reservoir development. At present, injecting plugging agents and other profile control and water plugging technologies are the most widely used solutions. With the development of deep

Water-soluble organic nitrogen in the gas phase measured by the denuder–filter pack method [PDF]

open access: yesTellus B: Chemical and Physical Meteorology, 2017
The WSON in the gas phase and aerosols were simultaneously measured by the denuder–filter pack method. Approximately 33 ± 18% of the WSON in the atmosphere existed in the gas phase. A large portion (approximately 76 ± 33%) of the gaseous WSON collected in the present sampling method was occupied by basic species.
