VOLUMETRIC PROPERTIES OF THE PHARMACEUTICAL MODEL COSOLVENT SYSTEM 1,4-DIOXANE + WATER AT SEVERAL TEMPERATURES ESTUDIO DE ALGUNAS PROPIEDADES VOLUMÉTRICAS DEL SISTEMA MODELO COSOLVENTE FARMACÉUTICO 1,4-DIOXANO + AGUA A VARIAS TEMPERATURAS

open access: yesVitae, 2009
Although the cosolvent system 1,4-dioxane + water is poisonous, it is widely used in the pharmaceutical sciences as a versatile model for studying drug solubility and some other relevant physicochemical properties in the design of homogeneous dosage ...

Loss of proton‐sensing GPR4 reduces tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
G protein‐coupled receptor 4 (GPR4) is a pH‐sensing receptor activated by acidic pH. GPR4 expression is increased in patients with inflammatory bowel disease who are at high risk of developing colorectal cancer. In mouse models, loss of GPR4 attenuated tumor progression. This correlated with increased IL2 and natural killer cell activity.

Loss of primary cilia promotes EphA2‐mediated endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in the ovarian tumor microenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of primary cilia in endothelial cells promotes EndMT and vascular abnormalities in the ovarian tumor microenvironment through EphA2 activation. Using human samples, in vitro models, and endothelial‐specific Kif3a‐knockout mice, we show that primary cilia loss drives the acquisition of cancer‐associated fibroblast‐like phenotypes, thereby ...

A nucleotide‐independent, pan‐RAS‐targeted DARPin elicits anti‐tumor activity in a multimodal manner

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We report a Designed Ankyrin Repeat Protein that binds and inhibits RAS proteins, which serve as central cell signaling hubs and are essential for the progression of many cancers. Its unique feature is that it does not discriminate between different RAS isoforms or mutations and is capable of binding to RAS in both its active (GTP‐bound) and inactive ...

BMP antagonist CHRDL2 enhances the cancer stem‐cell phenotype and increases chemotherapy resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.

The Effectiveness of Eliminating Malathion from Water by Ultraviolet Irradiation

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ̒Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Bābul, 2011
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Organophosphorus pesticides are one of the most consumable poisons in the country. Such poisons can enter water sources by different routes since consuming some drinking water which contains an amount of poison higher than the ...
