Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Circatidal rhythms of locomotion in the American horseshoe crab Limulus polyphemus: Underlying mechanisms and cues that influence them

open access: yesCurrent Zoology, 2010
While eye sensitivity in the American horseshoe crab Limulus polyphemus has long been known to be under the control of an endogenous circadian clock, only recently has horseshoe crab locomotion been shown to be controlled by a separate clock system.

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Around-the-clock noise exposure induces hippocampus apoptosis and subsequent cognitive impairment via the PI3K/SGK1/Foxo3 signaling pathway

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine
Background Noise exposure is an environmental stressor associated with cognitive impairment. Workers in specific work environments are often exposed to around-the-clock noise and experience severe emotional and cognitive dysfunctions associated with ...

Effects of different monochromatic light on growth performance and liver circadian rhythm of Yangzhou geese

open access: yesPoultry Science
The objective of this study is to examine the impact of monochromatic light on the circadian rhythms of blood melatonin and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) levels, liver clock genes, and melatonin receptors.

EVOLUTION OF THE CIRCADIAN CLOCK IN EXTREME ENVIRONMENT: LESSONS FROM CAVEFISH. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Evolution has been strongly influenced by the daily cycles of temperature and light imposed by the rotation of the Earth. Fascinating demonstrations of this are seen in extreme environments such as caves where some animals have remained completely ...

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Hypothyroidism impairs the circadian rhythmicity of clock genes and proteins involved in gut nutrient absorption in female mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology
Hypothyroidism is a common thyroid dysfunction with a higher prevalence in women. Impairments in the regulation of basal metabolism, small intestine nutrient transporter, dyslipidemia, and disruption in circadian clocks have been associated with the ...
