Litter decomposition and microbial activity are important factors affecting soil organic carbon (SOC) sequestration in the terrestrial ecosystems. However, how litter and microorganisms influence soil carbon (C) sequestration remains under debate, which ...

This study selected the landslide caused by the 1999 Chi-Chi earthquake, which occurred once in a century, and analysed the spatio-temporal distribution of landslide evolution in the basin through the concavity, slope, and sediment delivery ratio (SDR ...

Leucine‐rich glioma inactivated 1 (LGI1) is a ganglioside‐binding protein
Neuronal hyperexcitability associated with a decrease/absence of the extracellular protein LGI1 has been suggested to be primarily due to the downregulation of Kv1 channel expression. The molecular mechanisms underlying this decrease have not yet been elucidated.

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

Evaluating black soil thickness under straw return practices by using ground penetrating radar
The intensive utilization and erosion-induced thinning of global black soil threaten its sustainable use, making accurate thickness assessment crucial.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Velocity distribution and hydrodynamic characteristics of overland flow on biocrust-covered slopes
Biological soil crusts (BSC), commonly distributed as ground cover in arid and semi-arid regions, are recognized for the significant role in regulating runoff yield processes.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

In head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) p53 and p63 exert opposite roles on the transcription regulation of the lncRNA NEAT1. Under basal conditions, p53 levels are low and p63 represses NEAT1 expression. Upon genotoxic stress, p53 is rapidly induced, displacing p63 from the NEAT1 promoter leading to NEAT1 transcriptional activation and ...
