Homogeneous Connectivity of Potential Energy Network in a Solidlike State of Water Cluster [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A novel route to the exponential trapping-time distribution within a solidlike state in water clusters is described. We propose a simple homogeneous network (SHN) model to investigate dynamics on the potential energy networks of water clusters.

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Occurrence of Transients in Water Distribution Networks

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2015
AbstractThe common existence of pressure transients in operational water distribution systems (WDS) requires their characterisation and assessment of their impact. This paper performs such characterisation by evidencing the occurrence and the differences in pressure transient behaviour in complex WDS.

Piped water cooling of concrete dams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Piped water is used to remove hydration heat from concrete dams during construction. By examining simple models we obtain an estimate for the temperature rise along the pipe network and within the concrete.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

NUMERIC MODELING OF THE RESIDUAL CHLORINE CONCENTRATION EVOLUTION IN A WATER DISTRIBUTION NETWORK

open access: yesStudia Universitatis Moldaviae: Stiinte reale si ale naturii, 2014
The supply of quality potable water to the customers’ branch pipe of the distribution network represents a major responsibility for the water supply system operators.

Water reticulation model for Taman Maju, Parit Raja [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A numerical model is developed to quantify energy head losses occurred in the water distribution network of Taman Maju, Parit Raja, Johor. A numerical computation has the advantage over a manual computation when analyzing a complex distribution ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Multi-Model Demand Forecasting in Water Distribution Network Districts

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings
A multi-model including three modelling elements is developed to solve the Battle of Water Demand Forecasting problem. The first two modelling elements working in parallel are a pattern-based algorithm and a Random Forest model.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...
