Investigations of Rainwater harvesting system from Rooftop catchment (Case study: babolrood catchment) [PDF]

open access: yesWater Harvesting Research, 2017
Unfortunately, in Iran and other countries in the Middle East region, water becomes scarcer than ever before, and over the last decades, the demand for domestic water has increased due to population and economic growth.

Evaluation of Legacy Forest Harvesting Impacts on Dominant Stream Water Sources and Implications for Water Quality Using End Member Mixing Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Forests are critical water supply regions that are increasingly threatened by natural and anthropogenic disturbance. Evaluation of runoff-generating processes within harvested and undisturbed headwater catchments provides insight into disturbance impacts

Floodwater Harvesting for Improving Dryland Agriculture [PDF]

open access: yesWater Harvesting Research, 2017
This paper proposes floodwater harvesting as a countermeasure for ever-increasing water shortages in a semi-arid region of Iran. Characteristics of local Mediterranean climate are highlighted as a major constraint for direct use of seasonal runoff ...

A Survey of Multi-Source Energy Harvesting Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Energy harvesting allows low-power embedded devices to be powered from naturally-occurring or unwanted environmental energy (e.g. light, vibration, or temperature difference).

Evaluation of base flow separation methods for determining water extraction (Case study: Gorganroud River Basin) [PDF]

open access: yesWater Harvesting Research, 2017
The world's population is continuously growing, so the water demand is increased and the water crisis tends to intensify the use of groundwater. With regard to the reduction of groundwater resources, the use of surface water is a priority.

Monitoring water harvesting in metal-organic frameworks, one water molecule at a time [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have gained prominence as potential materials for atmospheric water harvesting, a vital solution for arid regions and areas experiencing severe water shortages. However, the molecular factors influencing the performance of

Evapotranspiration and Crop Coefficient for Haricot Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) Using Nonweighing Lysimeter Under Semiarid Climate of Melkassa, Ethiopia

open access: yesAdvances in Meteorology
The primary objective of irrigated agriculture is to produce crops with the help of irrigation. This field study was conducted during the 2017 and 2018 cropping seasons at the experimental farmland of Melkassa Agricultural Research Center, Ethiopia.

Efficiency assessment of AHP and fuzzy logic methods in suitability mapping for artificial recharging (Case study: Sarbisheh basin, Southern Khorasan, Iran) [PDF]

open access: yesWater Harvesting Research, 2017
Recently, special attention has been paid to artificial groundwater recharge in water resource management in arid and semi-arid regions. Water resources distribution in these regions is extremely uneven, both in spatial and temporal forms and groundwater

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The effects of improved permeability on rainwater harvesting in irrigated fields [PDF]

open access: yesWater Harvesting Research, 2016
Infiltration phenomenon, has a direct impact on rainwater harvesting in fields under irrigation. In order to solve this problem (reduced infiltration and increased runoff), a few strategies can be suggested.
