Numerical Simulation of Gas-Liquid Flow in a Bubble Column by Intermittent Aeration in Newtonian Liquid/Non-Newtonian Liquid

open access: yesInternational Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2018
The dynamic behaviors of gas-liquid two-phase flow were simulated in a lab-scale intermittent bubble column by Euler-Euler two-fluid model coupled with the PBM (population balance model) using two different liquid phases, i.e., Newtonian fluid (water ...

Powder Optimization Strategies for Binder Jetting Printing of BaTiO3 and Ba0,6Sr0,4TiO3 Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder optimization is investigated to enable binder jetting of BaTiO3 and Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 ferroelectric ceramics. The antagonistic relationship between flowability and binder compatibility is addressed through binder impregnation of granulated powders and fumed silica addition to fine powders.

Mean residence time and gas holdup of entrained gas by an impinging water jet.

open access: yesJOURNAL OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING OF JAPAN, 1983
An attempt has been made to measure the mean residence time of the gas entrained by a plunging water jet. The mean residence time, in the high jet velocity region on the gas entrainment curve, does not depend on jet velocity and tends to remain approximately constant for each set of experimental conditions.

Incorporation of Selenium into Sol–Gel‐Derived Bioactive Glass: Influence on Glass Structure, Bioactivity, and its Selective Cytotoxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Selenium was incorporated into a sol–gel‐derived bioactive glass to enable sustained therapeutic ion release. The selenium‐containing glass preserved bioactivity while selectively inducing cytotoxicity in osteosarcoma cells and maintaining osteoblastic viability.

Design of Helical Capacitance Sensor for Holdup Measurement in Two-Phase Stratified Flow: A Sinusoidal Function Approach

open access: yesSensors, 2016
A 360° twisted helical capacitance sensor was developed for holdup measurement in horizontal two-phase stratified flow. Instead of suppressing nonlinear response, the sensor was optimized in such a way that a ‘sine-like’ function was displayed on top of ...

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Slip Localization Intensification Mediated by Grain Boundary Sliding in a Polycrystalline Nickel‐Based Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The temperature dependence of fatigue behavior in nickel‐based superalloys is investigated through high‐resolution measurements of plastic localization. While increasing temperature reduces localization and enhances fatigue performance in René 88DT, Inconel 718 exhibits a sharp degradation at intermediate temperature due to intensified slip ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.
