Impact of oil-water emulsions on lubrication performance of ship stern bearings
During maritime operations, extreme events such as explosions, grounding, and seal failures can cause water ingress into lubricant compartments, forming oil-water emulsions that significantly affect the lubrication performance of ship stern bearings ...

Restart time correlation for core annular flow in pipeline lubrication of high-viscous oil [PDF]
One of the fundamental questions that must be addressed in the effective design and operation of pipeline lubrication of heavy oil is; “how much time will be needed to restart a blocked core annular flow (CAF) line after shutdown due to fouling or pump ...

ZnS‐MXene‐TiO2 nanocomposite heterojunction for photocatalytic decomposition of this methylene blue dye (MB) greatly improves light absorption, charge separation, and active site area. Two‐dimensional MXene forms nanocomposites by easily combining them with 0D (quantum dots), 1D (tube and wire), 2D (plane and sheet), and 3D (particle and lamellar ...

Removing Oxide Layers and Retaining Oxide‐Free Steel Surfaces by Polishing in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere
In this study, the efficacy of wet mechanical polishing under an oxygen‐free atmosphere for deoxidation and the retention of an oxide‐free steel surface are elucidated using X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The methodology proved successful; however, the results were highly dependent on the preparation of the solvents used to clean the samples after ...

Analysis of Transient Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication of Asymmetric Polymer Gear
Polymer gears are light and corrosion resistant, which can reduce noise and improve economic benefits. Correspondingly, polymer gear teeth are weaker than metal ones, so asymmetric design is adopted to improve the strength of polymer gear.

Effect of hydrophilized PTFE brush structure on seizure resistance in water
To prepare exhaustion of oil supplies, alternative lubricant which is good for environment will be required. Water is expected to be a suitable lubricant. However in water lubrication, high wear and seizure come to be problems because of water's low

Breakup of diminutive Rayleigh jets [PDF]
Discharging a liquid from a nozzle at sufficient large velocity leads to a continuous jet that due to capillary forces breaks up into droplets. Here we investigate the formation of microdroplets from the breakup of micron-sized jets with ultra high-speed

Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.
