EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

The Sensitivity of HAWC to High-Mass Dark Matter Annihilations

open access: yes, 2014
The High Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) observatory is a wide field-of-view detector sensitive to gamma rays of 100 GeV to a few hundred TeV. Located in central Mexico at 19 degrees North latitude and 4100 m above sea level, HAWC will observe gamma rays

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Temporal changes in the water mass distribution and transports along the 20ºW CAIBOX section (NE Atlantic)

open access: yesCiencias Marinas, 2011
The CAIBOX cruise was conducted from 25 July to 14 August 2009. Three consecutive transects (zonal, meridional, and transverse) formed a closed box to the west of the Strait of Gibraltar.

Holocene episodes of warm conditions in the eastern Fram Strait - a multiproxy perspective on the variability of Atlantic Water inflow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
EGU2011-2455 The current interglacial has gone through a variety of warmer and colder periods. Consistent with the decreasing solar insolation during the Holocene, warmest conditions have occurred particularly within its earliest phase.

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Anthropogenic carbon and water masses in the Bay of Biscay

open access: yesCiencias Marinas, 2011
As part of the VACLAN (Climate Variability in the North Atlantic) project, a section covering the Bay of Biscay was sampled in September 2005. This work estimates the distribution of the different water masses in the region using an extended optimum ...

Stable and habitable systems with two giant planets

open access: yes, 2010
We have studied planetary systems which are similar to the Solar System and built up from three inner rocky planets (Venus, Earth, Mars) and two outer gas giants.

Testing the Evolutionary Sequence of High Mass Protostars with CARMA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We present 1" resolution CARMA observations of the 3mm continuum and 95 GHz methanol masers toward 14 candidate high mass protostellar objects (HMPOs). Dust continuum emission is detected toward seven HMPOs, and methanol masers toward 5 sources.
