Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Foliar application of processed calcite particles improves leaf photosynthesis of potted Vitis vinifera L. (var. ‘Cot’) grown under water deficit

open access: yesOENO One, 2014
Aim: To determine the effect of foliar sprays of processed mineral particles (micronized calcite, Megagreen®) on leaf water relations and photosynthesis in grapevines (Vitis vinifera L. var. Cot) grown under water deficit.

Thermodynamics, Structure, and Dynamics of Water Confined between Hydrophobic Plates

open access: yes, 2005
We perform molecular dynamics simulations of 512 water-like molecules that interact via the TIP5P potential and are confined between two smooth hydrophobic plates that are separated by 1.10 nm. We find that the anomalous thermodynamic properties of water

Sustainable Management of Alpine Water Potentials

open access: yesRevue de géographie alpine, 2005
Abstract : In Europe the need for high-quality freshwater has been increasing by a factor often since the beginning of the 20th century. Due to their geographic position and topographic feature the Alps are a major freshwater collector and hydrological storage system.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Local order in aqueous solutions of rare gases and the role of the solute concentration: a computer simulation study with a polarizable potential

open access: yes, 2004
Aqueous solutions of rare gases are studied by computer simulation employing a polarizable potential for both water and solutes. The use of a polarizable potential allows to study the systems from ambient to supercritical conditions for water.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Efeito do sistema de condução em algumas características ecofisiológicas da videira (Vitis labrusca L.) Effect of the conduction system in some ecophysiological features of vine
