Evaluation of Hydropower Generation and Reservoir Operation under Climate Change from Kesem Reservoir, Ethiopia

open access: yesAdvances in Meteorology, 2022
Climate changes significantly cause the precipitation deficiency and in turn reduce the inflow amount in reservoir affecting hydroelectric power generation. The primary objective of this study was to evaluate hydropower generation and reservoir operation

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Is there progress in the adsorbent development for water treatment?

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Adsorption technology is an essential part of modern water treatment. However, only a handful of adsorbent materials are used industrially, which is in striking contrast with the exponentially increasing scientific publishing activity.

Effects of precipitation and potential evaporation on actual evapotranspiration over the Laohahe basin, northern China [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences, 2015
Problems associated with water scarcity are facing new challenges under the climate change. As one of main consumptions in water cycle on the Earth, evapotranspiration plays a crucial role in regional water budget. In this paper, we employ two methods,

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Application of neuro-genetic algorithm to determine reservoir response in different hydrologic adversaries

open access: yesSoil and Water Research, 2009
The hydrologic adversaries like high magnitude storms, extreme dryness, aridity, more than normal demand for water etc. often cause a huge stress on the storage structures such as reservoirs and check dams. This stress implies a lot of adverse effects on

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Introducing winter rice cropping by using non-saline tidal water influx in western basins of South 24 Parganas, India

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
A population exceeding 3.8 million people in the western region of 24-Parganas (South) is directly or indirectly reliant on agriculture as their primary source of livelihood.
