AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Multi-year Water Allocation: A Policy Analysis for Groundwater Management and Conservation for Irrigated Agriculture [PDF]

open access: yes
Heavy withdrawals from the most dependable source of groundwater in the Texas Panhandle, the Ogallala Aquifer, create an impending need for implementing water conservation policies.

Effect of Restricted Water Consumption on Broiler Chickens

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1965
Abstract CHICKENS cannot survive very long when deprived of water. A ten percent loss of body water through dehydration and excretion results in serious physical disorders (Romanoff and Romanoff, 1949). Dehydration is particularly noticeable in the shanks, and some mortality may result as reported by Marble and Jeffrey (1955).

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Proposing a strategy based on body-thermal status to improve the welfare of heat-stressed and water-deprived goats () [PDF]

open access: yesAnimal Bioscience
Objective Despite the considerable body of research on the effects of heat stress coupled with water scarcity (either through restriction or deprivation) on goats, aimed at enhancing their welfare, there remains a notable gap in the literature regarding ...

The contribution of differential hatching success to the fitness of species and interspecific hybrids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Resting egg banks of microcrustaceans have been used to reconstruct the evolutionary and ecological history of species. However, recent studies provided evidence for a discrepancy between dormant propagules in the sediment and the planktonic population ...

WATER ACTIVITY RESTRICTION BY APPLICATION OF ESSENTIALS OILS

open access: yesCellulose Chemistry and Technology, 2019
The antimicrobial activity of essential oils (EO) is mainly connected to the restriction of water distribution in reticular porous systems of bioactive matters, but the whole process is more complex. The reversibility of the EO desorption process in the water vapour environment of porous lignocellulosic materials, such as paper, is mainly controlled by

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Transmissibilidade e efeito de Acremonium strictum em sementes de milho Transmissibility and effect of Acremonium strictum in maize seeds
