Water in sphere-type opal

Mineralogical Magazine, 1969
SummarySurface areas of ‘amorphous’-type opals measured by nitrogen-absorption techniques were not consistent either with the surface area of the spheres of about 2000 Å diameter observable by electron microscopy or with the thermal dehydration data. This apparent inconsistency can be explained in terms of a smaller particulate structure of the order ...

Chironomids and regional water types

Netherlands Journal of Aquatic Ecology, 1992
The distribution pattern of 115 chironomid taxa at 664 sites, distributed over all kinds of water, was analyzed and related to 42 water types, based on the complete macrofauna composition. The distinction of chironomid groups was not useful to recognize water types.

Remote sensing of turbid coastal and estuarine waters: a method of multispectral water-type analysis

Oceanographic Literature Review, 1996
Analysis of digit.al imagery from the 100 m resolution airborne Multispectral Atmospheric Mapping Sensor (MAMS) indicates that scatter plots of remotely sensed sea surface temperature versus visible and near infrared subsurface reflectance can he used to

Heck-type reactions in water

Tetrahedron Letters, 1994
Abstract The presence of water is determining for the efficiency of quaternary ammonium salt (QX) in palladium-catalysed vinylation of organic halides using an alkali metal carbonate as the base, whether QX is a chloride, a bromide or a hydrogensulfate. The [Pd/M 2 CO 3 /QX] catalyst system can even be used for performing the reactions in neat water,

Water quality at water treatment plants classified by type

Toxicology and Environmental Health Sciences, 2016
Water is a vital requirement for all living organisms, including humans. Many water treatment plants are set up to clean contaminated water. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the influent and effluent water quality at various treatment plants and to compare the values of water quality variables by plant type.

Types and Quantities of Water Supply

1994
A water-supply system may be defined as a group of water-production facilities, such as reservoirs, wells, and treatment plants, and transmission facilities, such as pumping stations and pipelines to supply each consumer. The system may obtain water from various sources each requiring a particular production process, treatment, purification ...

Leaching and Water-Type Effects on Ground-Water Quality

Journal of the Irrigation and Drainage Division, 1981
Increased irrigation efficiency usually reduces the degradation of groundwater resources. The effect of differences of travel times in the unsaturated zone between low and high leaching becomes more important as the depth to the groundwater table increases.

On an alternative type of water barometer

American Journal of Physics, 1989
A type of water/gas barometer is studied, which is accurate, easy to build, and the size of which is similar to the one of the usual mercury barometer.
