Monitoring long-term peat subsidence with subsidence platens in Zegveld, The Netherlands

open access: yesGeoderma
Peat oxidation in peat meadow areas is causing greenhouse gas emissions as well as land subsidence. Due to yearly fluctuations in soil surface level, long-term monitoring is needed to determine long-term net subsidence rates.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Optimizing water and nitrogen management to reduce basal nitrogen inputs, improve nitrogen uptake and utilization efficiencies, and achieve high yields and low soil nitrate residue in wheat production

open access: yesCrop and Environment
Excessive basal nitrogen (N) inputs and improper water management limit both wheat yields and N use efficiency. Thus, a field experiment was conducted for two years to evaluate whether optimizing water and N management could reduce basal N inputs ...

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Ecological risk from wastewater irrigation: a comprehensive assessment of heavy metal contamination in Egyptian soils

open access: yesBulletin of the National Research Centre
Background Continuous irrigation with poor-quality water poses a major threat to soil health and food security through the progressive buildup of potentially toxic elements (PTEs). This study conducted a detailed ecological risk assessment of nickel (Ni),

Liquid biopsy‐based diagnostic evaluation of hypermethylated CpG sites for ovarian cancer diagnosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This schematic outlines the workflow from biomarker identification to duplex MethyLight assay validation for epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosis using cfDNA‐based liquid biopsy. Initial screening of hypermethylated CpG candidates (cg02957270, cg10061138 cg00480298, COL2A1) was performed in tissue using ARMS‐PCR, COBRA, qPCR and image analysis. Selected
