U.S. Consumers Sometimes Prefer Seemingly Redundant Labels

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT More food products are carrying seemingly redundant labels, which are marketing claims or certifications that reiterate product attributes already conveyed. In this paper, we aim to answer two questions on redundant labels. First, do consumers view redundant labels as deceptive or informative? Second, how do redundant labels affect product and

Influence of Administering Watermelon Rind Water Extract (Citrullus vulgaris Schard) on Glucose Level of Male White Rats (Rattus norvegicus) Induced with Streptozotosin

open access: yesFolia Medica Indonesiana, 2021
Watermelon rind water extract contain of citrulline. Citrulline is a precursor of generating Nitric Oxide (NO). NO possibly reduced the level of blood glucose in streptozotosin-induced diabetic rats.

Green Fuel Combustion Synthesis of CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 Nanoparticles for Photocatalytic and Antibacterial Applications

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silver‐doped cerium oxide nanoparticles (Ag/CeO2 NPs) were synthesized using Ricinus communis seed extract as a bio‐derived fuel in a solution combustion method. The combustion reaction, carried out at 450°C with AgNO3 and (NH4)2[Ce (NO3)6] as metal precursors, produced CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 NPs.

Annotating aspects in text and image: A new task and dataset for multimodal aspect‐based sentiment analysis

open access: yesJournal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Aspect‐Based Sentiment Analysis (ABSA) has evolved from textual analysis to a multimodal paradigm, integrating visual information to capture nuanced sentiments. Despite advancements, existing Multimodal ABSA (MABSA) research remains limited in granularity, which focuses on either coarse‐level categories or named entities, neglecting fine ...

Antioxidant Activity and Inhibition of Carbohydrate Hydrolyzing Enzymes by Underutilized Parts From Some Plant‐Based Foods and Their Effect on Postprandial Hyperglycemia

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
The underutilized parts viz: pawpaw seed, banana, plantain, and potato peels showed promising antioxidant and inhibition of α‐amylase and α‐glucosidase activities (IC50 values ≤ 100 μg/mL). Similarly, pawpaw seed, banana, plantain, and potato peels reduced postprandial hyperglycemia in sucrose‐ and maltose‐induced hyperglycemia in rats.

Prediction of lycopene degradation during dehydration of watermelon pomace (cv Sugar Baby)

open access: yesJournal of the Saudi Society of Agricultural Sciences, 2017
Lycopene retention in watermelon pomace during drying was investigated in fluidized-bed and cabinet dryer at 50–70 °C using 2–6 kg/m2 tray loads. Page’s model described the drying behaviour of watermelon pomace better than other models.
